He's in shape, because of his profession. He is an avid runner which keeps him healthy and ready to chase down a criminal at a moment's notice.
Typically dresses in casual clothes: jeans, simple button-up shirt and a casual sports jacket (when on the job), otherwise jeans and a t-shirt or light sweater works just fine for times he is off-duty.

Attributes and Skills: Been in law enforcement since he was 22. He graduated at the top of his class and gained employment quickly as a deputy in his home town. Due to his solid skills and proficiency in weapons (he's an excellent shot), he was quickly snatched up by Allied Law Enforcement. He is driven to succeed. He is a born leader and gains the loyalty of those around him very quickly.
First Impression: He is rather intense and can sometime seem abrasive. He doesn't like dilly-dallying around or playing games. Says what he means and means what he says.
Under the Surface: He will go to the mat for any of his people. The loyalty he gains from them is usually reciprocated. He actually has a sense of humor and likes to hang out with those he cares about. He's very social when you get to know him.
Deep Dark Self: He has a deep seated hatred for pirates. One pirate in particular: John Winston. John Winston was responsible for the death of his family when he was a teenager. It is what drove him into law enforcement. If he ever has the chance, he has vowed to shoot the man on sight.
Public / Common History: When Hutch was 15, his family's ship was boarded by pirates nearby their home planet. His father hid him away in a the small crawlspace on the ship that he once used as a playhouse when he was young. He was instructed to not come out until if was safe. He stayed in there for hours and finally crawled out on his own. His family had been slaughtered and the ship picked clean of any valuables. The only thing he kept from that part of his life was a picture of his family, taken just a few weeks before the attack and his father's coat. The coat is comes to mid calf and is a tanned brown color. It is often mistaken for a browncoat, which it is not due to it's age, but the similarity often helps him out on the rim.
Secret History: He was in a group of investigators that actually bound John Winston for pirating charges. Due to a technicality and some tampering on the behalf of a well paid Prosecutor (basically he was bribed), John was cleared of all charges and is still a free man to this day. John Winston is aware of Hutch's history with him and they serve as each other's nemesis.
Strengths: He is driven to succeed. He is very smart. He is an excellent lawman.
He is good in hand-to-hand confrontations and is very proficient with firearms.
He instills loyalty in the people around him and will protect those he cares about without hesitation.
Weaknesses: He can get sidetracked when dealing with pirates. He basically thinks that none of them deserve to live and that the taxpayers should be spared the expense of a trial and just go for an execution.
John Winston is always a hot button for him. Standing over John, riddling him with holes, would be a banner day for Hutch.
