1)Quuatmo... sweet song!

2)I'm planning on making this one acoustic-electric.

3) I purchased my flamed maple for the fingerboard, chinrest, and tailpiece today. it's a board 2 ft long and about six inches wide of 3/4 inch thickness. It should have plenty of excess just in case, and i'll have some left over for side projects later.

4) I intend to inlay my rose on the tailpiece with mother of pearl, or maybe abalone.

yes3.gif i'm planning on using the piezo pickup in my bass as a test run.... if it sounds good then i'll simply install one of those on the violin since it's made for any instrument, and later I can upgrade to a higher-end bridge.

this piezo is only $17, compared to a $117 electro-acoustic bridge.

got some new toys yesterday (namely gouge chisels and mini files), and I made the fingerboard entirely by hand tools, it's just not radiused yet because i had to take my little bro to baseball practice.

block planes are my heroes =)

i just wrote a paper, so pics later tonight.

this weekend was cut short, all i managed to do was cut the blanks for the chinrest and tailpice, because of an interesting phenomena.

my block plane is dull... and i'm too lazy to sharpen it, so it gets caught occasionally, and just slams into my stopping block. the stopping block is screwed securely to my workbench, and my workbench is screwed securely to my garage wall, which is firmly attached to the rest of my house.

my dad informs me that i was knocking things over in his office by using my block plane in the garage =/

i've been away for a while, and haven't posted anything...

shameful.

and worse yet, i quit this build project after getting discouraged at the neck joint.

BUT all is not lost! i built a 5-string electric violin this past summer... pics:
