QUOTE
CLEVELAND (AP)—The Cleveland Indians have fired manager Eric Wedge in the final days of a disastrous season.

Wedge guided the Indians to one playoff appearance in seven seasons, and this year the club fell out of contention early and is currently one game out of last place in the AL Central.

The Indians have scheduled a Wednesday afternoon news conference at Progressive Field to announce Wedge’s dismissal.

Wedge will finish out the season as manager. Cleveland’s coaching staff has also been informed it will not be retained, but some of the staff could be re-hired by the Indians’ next manager.

Well its about time, we're one of the worst teams in the league.

HA HA HA! This has disaster written all over it as the Indians have hired Manny Acta as their new manager. So they fire a guy who had some success to hire the fourth worst manager of all time when you look at winning percentages. Can anyone justify this hire?

Sure, the Nationals don't have much talent, but it's amazing how much they turned around when Riggleman took over. They still weren't great, but they weren't horrendous either.

Yea, I'm sure a lot of other people, me being one of them, sees this as a bad idea... hiring a guy who on paper had poor success in the big leagues. 158-252 as a manager in his career, and we jump at the snap to get him after he gets an offer from the Astros. Not to mention he spent 8 yrs coaching in the minors.

I think I rather have kept Wedge. We all know had a bad season, but who wouldn't have giving up the talent we had, especially in the last 2 seasons losing C.C and Cliff Lee to trades. Wedge was 561-573 as a manger, which isn't bad, its respectable.

I wish Acta the best of luck though, I just don't think he was the right choice given the circumstances.

Gotta admit to being wrong here. Acta is doing a very good job in Cleveland... and while the division is a pillow fight, they lead the AL Central by a few games... and they have a better than expected season in 2011 as well. Maybe he learned from his mistakes in Washington.
