Interesting view from one of the pirates.

Says basically the only thing that's going to stop poor villagers from using this as a way to make money is for illegal dumping and overfishing to stop taking away the fishermen's livelihood or for Somali itself to develop an effective government.

Also said that to many of the local townsfolk, the young men who go out and come back to their families with the cash are seen as daring heroes.

Interesting angle. Kinda parallels the old philosophical and ethical debate over whether it's ok for a man to steal medicine he can't afford to keep his wife alive. Obviously, I don't condone actions of piracy, but there's always more to the story, one side is almost always less publicized.
