Too bad for the Heels that they could not represent the ACC as national champs, but they did a heck of a job in trying. Congrats to OSU for repeating as baseball national champs.

too bad the anteaters didnt win...that sportscenter clip of Pres. Bush going 'go ant..eaters' was hillarious.

Given the amount of talent Oregon State had to replace, this is the most impressive CWS run that I've ever seen from a defending CWS champion. Oregon State lost just about everybody last year and yet they still have enough to win the CWS. What an incredible run.

I heard they were the first team ever to win the NCAA without having a winning conference record.

The Pac-10 owns the Diamonds.

Yes yes we all know Southern Cal was a beast back in the day winning 12 titles, including a streak of five straight. But they haven't been to Omaha since 2001 and haven't won a National Title since '98.

Kind of like getting on Notre Dame fans for talking about the 40s and 50s. Or Yankee fans talking about the Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, DiMaggio, Maris, Berra days.

ASU has 5 titles, and 20 CWS appearances.

Pac-10 has more CWS titles than the next 2 conferences combined.

Last Titles For Pac-10 Schools

So. Cal - 1998 (last one after that, '78)
Arizona State - 1981
Arizona - 1986
Stanford - 1988
California - 1957

Yep, lucky your Beavers have kept you all relevant.

So what other conferences have been so dominant lately?

None. But overall, Pac-10 owns the diamonds.

Big 12 is right there with you. Same amount of national championships since 2002 for both conferences.

Same reason everyone laughs at Yale fans if they go around saying "Yale owns college football"

I have no clue how 3 titles since 1988 makes you own the CWS.

You use the weirdest dates for your reference points.

The CWS dates back to 1947. That's 60 years. Teams from the Pac-10 have won 26 of those titles. The Pac-10 was a runner up in 13 of them.

No other conference even sniffs that.

Total and complete CWS pwnage.
