Ok, not a fan of Obama at all, but people are being way too sensitive. And reacting to what they think he said and not what he actually said.

The damn point is "Guys - plan things out so you know how much money you need for priorities and how much is available for pleasantries. Don't gamble away your future." I don't know how that translates to not letting Americans choose to spend their own hard-earned vacation dollars, when his point directly mentioned non-vacation dollars.

Wow. People are quite dumb. What if he would've said, "We're all struggling and have bills to pay...But why not go have a good time in Las Vegas!" he would've drawn even more criticism. Americans are stupid with money, and I applaud the president for articulating the common sense advice that so many people sadly need.

Agreed. It's nice for him to finally admit this instead of blaming "greedy wall street" as a convenient scapegoat for the masses to point fingers at instead of themselves.

Although, as my friend pointed out, how can Obama tell other people to be spending money responsibly when he's encouraging the Federal Government to spend trillions that it doesn't have?

And then one more thing about this statement by "Democratic Congresswoman Shelley Berkley" - "President Obama needs to stop picking on Las Vegas and he needs to let Americans decide for themselves how and where to spend their hard-earned vacation dollars." Since when did Democrats start believing in letting Americans decide how to spend their own hard-earned dollars?

It's the classic political "do as I say, not as I do."
