Alright, so I got this idea from a different site (A New Generation v2) which is no longer active. (only the earning points bit was ANGv2's idea, the rest is all me)
EARNING POINTS
1. Creating a new member!
------for each new member that is made, you earn 10 points! (of course it's for the house that your character joined)
2. Advertising!
------for each site you advertise on, post the link here, and you'll earn 15 points for your house!
------don't forget to make sure that there isn't already a link on the site, thank you.
3. Word Count!
------you can earn points just by posting! every rp post (not relationships, journals, games, ect) that is a certain length you can earn points!
------400+ words =15 points
------500+ words = 30 points
------600+ words = 50 points
------700+ words = 75 points
4. IC Points!
------ONLY prefects and teachers can award points IC. they won't happen often, but they're for when a character does something exceptionally good in a topic (with a prefect/teacher around). All awarded points MUST be approved by an admin first.
CODES FOR GETTING THE POINTS:
1. New Member = no code
2. Advertising

LIMITS!!!!:
+You can advertise unlimitedly, however, you will only get house points for 5 in a week. Sorry, but we don't want the house points to be ridiculously high.
+With the word count there are two limitations
------One is that you can only use up to 3 posts in one topic to get house points
------Two is that you can only get points for up to 5 posts in one week. Again, we don't want house points in the thousands.
DEDUCTIONS:
+anybody who misbehaves OOC will get points deducted from their house. the amount will depend on the severity of the crime
+prefects/teachers MAY deduct points IC, but they must be approved by an admin first.
HOUSE WINNERS:
+each MONTH a house winner will be chosen. the members of those houses will be able to see a special forum just for them. each month the forum will differ (though I'm sure some will be repeated at one point or another)
+in the event of a tie, the first one in one of the houses that are tied to post something earning points will win =]
