It will not install. Doesn't even give me the oppotunity to. Put it in the drive and it won't bring up a "what do you want to do with this disk" menu. Go to computer and click the drive and it won't bring it up, press auto run, won't do that either.

I went to the BBS, but I couldn't find anything about this on McB's post (maybe I just missed it).

Stats
OS -- Windows Vista 64 bit SP1
RAM -- 8 gb
Processor -- AMD Phemon 9550 Quad-Core
Graphics Card -- Nvidia GeForce 6300 SE

Not sure what DirectX I've got. But I looked at Wiki and it said "it comes with, and requires SP1 for Vista" It came with sp1 already so 10?

Can I get the game to run on here or not? If not I guess I still have the old computer, which for some reason it acts up on there too.. Atleast The Sims 2 works on here and hopefully I will be getting The Sims 3 soon

Are you trying to install the CC version of Sims 1 or the separate disks?

If the same disk causes problems in an older pc that is more compatible with such an old game maybe it's not the pc, it's the disk - damaged somehow, needing the centre hole cleaned so it grips, something like that? Cause if the pc doesn't even recognise that you've put the disk in the drive - sounds a bit suspect to me.

I wonder if your new pc is too sophisticated for poor old Sims though - 64 bit - not what the makers had in mind, let alone all the problems with Vista and Sims 1.

I've got the CC.
Well, what I meant when I said it acts up on the old computer is when I go to play it it just goes to a black screen and I have to press the windows key to return to the desktop and when I click back into it it works.

I had the same problem on Vista 32 bit with 4 gb of RAM a Quad core processor and an nVidia 8800 GTX with 768 MB of DDR3 ram of it's own. I could install and play up to House Party and after that it said I was out of memory ohmy.gif LOL

Erm, I don't think so smile.gif

Sims one just doesn't get quad core and me thinks it is going to go into meltdown trying to figure out 64 bit. As Hawk said, it just doesn't understand such technology.

Of course if you find a way to prove me wrong I will be more than happy as I have just received my copy of 64 bit Windows 7 today. It would be nice to play the original again smile.gif

Hopefully the 7 year old computer doesn't die anytime soon, beacause if I don't figure this out I won't have anything to play it on =(.. sides the laptop, but it can hardly run it and it isn't full screen =(

Next weekend dad wants to upgrade to windows 7 because supposedly we get it free?

This 64 bit stuff just stinks.. The printer we have won't work because it isn't supported.. Soo we have to transfer whatever we want to print to the old computer to do it.. It better not die.. ha

I guess 64-bit will just optimize your multicore CPU and other 32-bit programs will run as usual or...'slower'

Say 64-bit programs are optimized..

But we'd never know exactly which x86/32-bit progs can or can't work on x64 platform...
