I was finally playing TS2 on my laptop the other day, and I was having some terrible glitch problems and figured I should reinstall it since I have heard many other people have had problems, particularly on Vista. But it didn't fix anything and I found out there is a little crack in my original Sims 2 disc and have no idea how it got there! D:

I now it is a long shot, but I really don't want to buy a new CD! Is there any way I can repair this small crack on my CD? I guess the data would already be damaged and unreadable anyways.
I can live with the glitch and it could be a lot worse, but it's really irritating and I have no idea what else could be wrong.

Sasha, I don't know all the details about this, but EA Games will replace a broken or cracked disc. Look on the TS2 website. smile.gif (I don't know if the game has to be registered or not in order for you to receive the replacement. Read the guide that came with your game, it should tell you.)

Hi Sasha. Many retail music and DVD stores offer a repair service that takes about 10 to 15 minutes and cost only a couple of dollars (pounds). I had my Hot Date disc repaired and it works perfectly. ohmy.gif I don't remember where you live but if you're in the States places like Borders, Hastings, Best Buy, etc can help. If you're in the UK I know Borders is there or any good retailer who sells games, movies, or music should be able to help. It's apparently a liquid process that they apply to the damaged area and then polish after it dries. Good luck and I hope this helps. It's a bummer to buy a new one. I was really in a panic. Try and find a Hot Date disc for sale. rolleyes.gif

That's a cool suggestion dmaxc. Much quicker than waiting for EA to replace it. Probably even less expensive than paying for shipping! cool.gif

Hey tigers!
I don't know what could be causing that, but I would believe that it would happen because of too much pressure on one spot of the CD. Do these half moon scratches or holes ever damage the CD? Like, can you still use the CD after they appear?

And thanks dmax! There is a best buy conveniently place only a few blocks from home! Do they repair it kind of like nicks in the windshield of your car? It seems that even after the CD is cracked the data written on it would be destroyed on that part and be unrepairable.
Maybe I just don't understand CD's all that well! tongue.gif

Hi Sasha. I think it depends a lot on the severity of the crack. Mine had a little gouge but more of a scratch than a crack. The Best Buy guys can tell you and they will "convienently" have a "new" one that you can purchase. TS2 is still not to hard to find but if they can't fix your's then I think I would try Writergirlj's suggestion and try for a replacement from Maxis before shelling out $20.00. I just happened to buy the original TS2 disc from Best Buy not long ago and that's what I paid. I'm still playing TS1 but I'm picking up some of the TS2 EP's for future use. Also Sasha if they can't help you, check some other retailers where you live before investing in a new one. Obviously Best Buy would rather have your $20.00 than a small repair charge. Good luck and I hope this helps you. smile.gif smile.gif

it is like a magnet is set directly on the cd but the only magnets in the house are in speakers and only certain discs are affected and they are kept in a drawer underneath the dvd player and vhs player and the one damaged was towards the bottom of the drawer

no i can not use the ones with half moon holes in the metal part of the disc and the half moon holes are all over the disc and in its original pkging

one of the cases that the dvd came in was like sims 3 case and sims2 mansion and garden stuff case the other was the normal cd case with hard plastic like the sims2 pc-cd university case

the dvd was special edition beauty and the beast but i can play the original version
