TS2 Challenge: Time Travel Anyone?, Got an idea =)

So, while answering WGJ's post about the evil nanny, I came across Viv's reference to a Women's Shelter and that got me thinking of all my rowdy GMC friends (not to mention Rowdy) in one place where rowdiness is a daily and expected occurrence: University! (If you ever saw the movie "Peggy Sue Got Married" then you'll know what's in mind, but on a college level.)

So, who wants to go back to college with me?

Or, if you are pre-college age, who wants to go forward into college?

I was thinking we could create our sims and upload them as they'd appear as college students to be downloaded by everyone interested in this challenge. If you don't want to create them, allow me to do so. Just tell me some particulars about your sim-self at c.age 19 including:

hair eye skin color
fashion style (geek goth prep urban etc)
zodiac sign
aspiration (knowledge, popularity, etc)
attractions

*cracks her knuckles*

Any takers?

So, once we have ourselves in our own games, we send them off to a dorm. I have a six-person dorm I created which I can upload for download. It's probably depreciated enough not to be a problem.

Once you have us all there, start the game and record what happens.

Here are some predictions for the rowdy GMC gang at college:

I predict Viv will see the streaker and immediately want to join in the fun.
I predict the local jock will go bonkers over El and follow her around.
I predict Loflyh will light a match under the fire sprinklers.
I predict LaB will sleep through her first final.
And I predict that, once this is over with, it'll make a great remix /slide show/ vid.

That sounds great, Tizz! The problem is... guess who's going to need technical advice, as always? I've never been able to get hold of entire sims when I upload them - only their attributes! I've never at all got the hang of Body Shop, so make my Sims within Create a Sim. Still, we can try! You've seen pictures of me at that age, so you know what I looked like.

Hi Viv. I know what you mean. I can't upload from BodyShop any more either because of the new Error. I did a patch before installing Seasons, so I'll have to do it again I guess.

To reassemble the downloaded sims, simply go to character manager and you'll see the * for the custom skins. Mine use just regular skins (in the case below, fair for me and fair/medium in my son's). Go to the skin and then to face and you'll find the face created for that sim. Same with the clothes -- just open the 5th tab and grab the outfit.

In college I was driven, extremely fashion-conscious and sleep deprived. Hair and nails always had to be perfect, and I preferred very short skirts and very high heels. Exhausting -- give me jeans and t-shirts any day now. For the GMC B-t-t-F Challenge. =)

So what are your predictions for me Tizz?

I've never done anything in Body Shop. I did once try to make a "me" in Create a Sim and was freaked when all of a sudden my best friend's face was staring back at me as a Sim!! She and I look a lot alike, and everyone thinks we're sisters but boy it wigged me out. I'd made a couple of other Sims to look like people I know and there's always that one magical feature you get just right that brings it all together and all of a sudden, there they are as a Sim! (It's a little creepy). But like I've said, I've only done Create a Sim. Any tips for Body Shop? Or should I just stick with Create a Sim for now?

Also, in college, I was definitely all about the Knowledge but with strong desires for family. Now it's flipped (I'm all about Family with strong desires for knowledge). If I'm reading correctly, I'm to make a Sim with the same aspiration I actually had as a college student, right? And my fashion sense has to match what it was in college?? (Can't it please be what I wish it were? )

When I went to the college I went to, I wore jeans, rock band t-shirts, moccasins and sneakers mostly. Most of the other girls were fashion plates. I went to a fashion merchandising/interior design school that was all girls and about 4 gay boys. It was fun. Fun in the sun in Miami.

I want to work on this a bit I hope on Sunday.

I don't know if I want a jock chasing me around Tizz. LOL... Is this a NPC thing that will happen? lol.............. I guess as long as he's handsome and nice.

Okay, so I need help here. I created my WGJ Sim (in body shop!) and couldn't upload it because of the error. I did patch it after getting the error. I went in to Create a Sim to fill in the details about aspiration, etc. Am I supposed to upload what I did from body shop or what I did from create a sim (with aspiration and turn ons/offs)? I did create custom color hair, eyes and eyebrows (is that going to be a problem?). If the cc is a problem I can just use Maxis stuff (the "cc" is just recolors of Maxis stuff to make the hair darker brown and the eyes a more golden brown).

So I'm ready to go once I know what to do next! (help... )

Haven't had a chance to do this yet, but I will! I'm sartorially challenged though - I don't know whether to go for the mini-mini look of when I first went to college, or the dippy-hippy look of my final years... 1968-1970... hmmm.

By the way, are we to make them as teenagers so that they can turn into young adults at college? I can't seem to create young adults on Create A Sim.

You can only make YA Sims in the CAS in the College Town neighbourhood screen. Or you can make them in Body Shop.

Please forgive me for not getting back to you guys more quickly. I am sharing this computer with my son, and he's been needing it for college prep, and studying for his license! So to answer your question, WGJ, if you've uploaded it (I cannot atm, so I have to try the patch again), we can download it and give it your aspirations and likes/dislikes, and also your zodiac sign. The only way to get it into our game is go to Character Manager in University Town and grab the features shown on your upload, as well as the outfit and hair. The face will show up under the particular skin tone. If you have a specialized skin tone, then we need to look in the "*" section of skins, the asterisk after the last skin tone.

So that's why for anyone participating it'd be cool to know:

1 Aspiration (now or then either is cool)
2 Zodiac sign
3 Skin used or required
4 Likes/Dislikes ("turn ons/ turn offs")

I already uploaded you El a couple of Christmases ago so it'd be simple to make her into a college sim. =) She's very popular. Truth is up there (has anyone seen Truth btw? It'd be cool to list what our Sims #1 wants are throughout just for kicks. For the most part I try to fill them, but the "Be saved from death" and "See a ghost" wants that Knowledge sims always seem to have are tough. o.O How do you do that without cheating and killing off you sim?

I've got waylaid into building a dorm for us - the Dorm-Ite Bene GMC (sorry, I can never resist puns!) but I haven't quite finished it yet. It's a luxury item, with en suites on the top floor, so I expect we'd all be fighting for the best rooms! There's also a swimming pool in the basement. I shall test it before I upload it, however - I've built a couple of dorms, but I'm not terribly confident!

Will this be a 'no cheats' challenge, Tizz?

Okay, so I only understood about half of this. I don't know what Charater Manager is... If I don't use cc then do you still have to jump through these hoops? Because I'm not attached to it (besides, it's not the best recolor in the world - if you look at it up close, the color looks really matte, not all shiney and pretty like Maxis stuff). I don't want people to have to jump through extra hoops just to DL my lame recolors.... (Well, I do like my recolor of the eyes, but its such a subtle difference from the regular brown, I don't know if it'd be worth it to anyone else but me).

I have not uploaded it yet because I didn't know what I should do.

Also, I will need step-by-step instructions about DL others' (I've never DL for TS2, not even official Maxis stuff, and have no idea what I'm doing...)

I don't know what this means... are you talking about the want that will just stay up there even if you don't lock it (like the be saved from death for Knowledge sims)?

And how are we supposed to record what happens? Are we to make an album? I'm confused on that part, since you said you'd pull it all together...

ROFL!!!!! I was just today thinking how lame I was at the wilder side of college (I was soooo Miss Goody Two Shoes...), but I like the idea of having my Sim self being a "girl gone wild." As you'll see when you DL my sim self, I'm in serious need of a make over! (I was true to my fashion sense at the time, as painfully boring as it was... *sigh*)

(Now it's reversed, so pick whichever you want)

(but I'm not as playful and I'm nicer and neater the game allows me to make and still be a Taurus... I bring the Playful down as much as possible and the nicer up as much as possible to still be a Taurus - I'm willing to take the hit on the neatness points )
3. Lightest skin tone
4. Likes: Black hair, hats (in RL it's black hair and grey eyes )
5. Dislikes: Blondes
(sorry to any blondies out there... another dislike could be cologne / perfume because unless it's the highest quality and used sparingly, it makes me ill as I'm very allergic to most - so if you don't want my sim to have "blonde hair" as a dislike, choosing cologne/perfume would still be true to who I am )

A bit about me:

If you've read the Harry Potter books and are at all familiar with the character Hermione Granger, that tells you most of what you need to know about me as a high school and college student! I was immensely stressed about school, always thought I'd fail even though I worked hard, judged others for not working as hard, and had a few close friends that I was very loyal to, even if I questioned them or their reasoning. I look back now and regret how much I missed out on (the lighter, wilder side of college life). I intend to change that for my sim self!! I was also a bit like Harry in that I experienced a lot of loss during my college years (lost my mom, grandmother, and grandfather in a 22 month span). My reaction to this was to become even more controlling about school (if that were at all possible ).

This is all getting very interesting! I shall definitely download you, WGJ - and work out how to download the others in time.

I've made a mini-me, but don't like me very much, so I'm holding fire on uploading at the moment. I have, however, built a dorm (called the Dorm-Ite Bene because I can't resist a pun):

One problem I had with my Sim was that I didn't know whether to go with the star sign or my character. You see, I'm Scorpio, but no way am I Scorpio in character! I think I turned out Aquarius in the end. It doesn't help that I just don't believe in a correlation between birthdays and character. One major reason for this is that my mother and OH share a birthday - and 2 people less alike in character... !!!!!

Anyway, there's a dorm - and I shall scratch my head a bit longer about my Sim.

I had this problem too. My sun sign is Taurus, which I have some characteristics of, but my moon and rising signs also speak a lot to my personality. My moon is also Taurus, but interestingly, the characteristics of having a moon sign of Taurus are different than having a sun sign of Taurus. My rising is Libra, and I have a lot of characteristics of a Libra. When I make a sim according to my personality, I actually get Libra. But I'm very proud of my Taurean heritage, so I went with that.

Ummm... I don't get it. I don't know what "Ite Bene" means...

Also, Viv, if I want to download your dorm, is it going to be a problem if I don't have all the EPs and SPs you do? I have NL, Uni (obviously), OFB, Seasons, and Celebration Stuff. (That's a very cool dorm from what I can see of the teeny-tiny pictures!)

WGJ, I must be going crazy - I was sure I'd answered this one!

"Dormite bene" is "Sleep well" in Latin - though, come to think of it, I reckon Tizz sees us all partying all night!

I'm not sure about downloading when you don't have all the EPs. The one I used most in this one is Ikea - cheap, but stylish - ideal for a dorm! I think there might be some way of doing what I think is called a "clean installation" - but that might just refer to no CC. You wouldn't get quite the same effect, anyway, but you might get the basic shell, and be able to model it/furnish it to your own taste.

That's what I was hoping for. I know in TS1 you could do that. I guess I'll give it a try and see what happens. Thanks!

I downloaded the dorm Viv and I have a ton of missing items, floors and wallpaper. It's very cool though. I'll remake it with my stuff. But it's so pretty! I love the roof too -- well done. I'll post pics once I get it redecorated. =)

WGJ your sim isn't nearly as pretty as you are. I want to make you guys based on what you put as your aspirations, etc.

Viv I made one of you for the Assignment 3 (I was going to make a Sims movie but after doing about 120 shots I found out I had it on SMALL without sound grrr). I have El and Jan and everyone on the Pack team and I have to show you a pic. I think you guys turned out really well.

Sorry if I missed anything. You can download Micah on my page and use her in character manager for my college version. And El is El and Jan is Jan -- they culled Bobbi but Truth is still there. =) I think she's the most popular of all my sims. I have to figure out this upload thing. The patch isn't working now that I've re-installed Seasons and I'm guessing it needs to be re-patched.

I gave up trying to get it perfect because I would get close and then all of a sudden, it would turn into looking like my best friend again so I just stopped and let it be.

I'm totally amenable to letting someone make a WGJ sim for me *cough* hint hint *cough*.

I would try repatching. I have Seasons and uploading worked just fine for me after patching.
