I wasn't sure whether to put this question in TS2 or tuts. I put it here in the hopes that it is possible and that someone can tell me how to do it. wink.gif (I have very strong "optimism" DNA.)

There are a set number and type of paintings a Sim can paint one the easle. Is there a way to load custom pictures and have them be able to paint those? I vaguely recall there was a way in TS1 and was hoping it could be done in TS2.

If this is possible, would someone please teach me how? Thanks!

I managed to do it but I don't know if it's the right way to do it! rolleyes.gif

If you go into Documents>EA Games>The Sims 2>Paintings you'll see the custom paintings that Sims can paint. I just added a new one and my Sims could paint it! The paintings can't be bigger than the ones that are already there, and the default custom paintings seem to be different sizes. The first picture I tried to add was too big, I think it was over 1000 pixels in width. But the small one of MacGyver worked just fine (around 500x500, wxh).

Oh, Shell, cool! Thank you! I'll give it a try. I want my sims to be able to paint the avi I'm currently using, among other things. biggrin.gif

Do I need replace the default paintings, or can I just add to them?

That'd be a cool painting! I just added a new picture to the folder without taking any away and this was the result (don't know if it's very clear!):

Excellent! I'm going to try that today. I'll let you know how that goes.

I just tried it and it worked! There are several pics that are the wrong size, so I'll have to resize them to get them to work. Also, some are not the right proportions (they are square pics, whereas, the paintings in the easle are vertical rectangles). But I do have a nice custom selection. I was going to post a pic here, but it's very blurry. I have everything set to the highest quality, but the pic is very small and if I enlarge it, it's blury. You'll just have to take my word for it that I got it to work. biggrin.gif Thanks again, Shell!

No problemo! cool.gif

I'll take your word for it. I can't seem to get my pictures to be bigger than a postage stamp just now, even though I have my settings on high for both picture size and quality unsure.gif. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place for the big pictures laugh.gif

If you have Pets or BV or FT there's a folder that has some art in it that your Sims can paint on the easel, that you can choose from in-game. If you put something in there it should become available in-game. There's also a trick in the Prima guide for putting in something of your own choosing when you've commanded a Sim to paint a still life.
