I don't care much for guns either, but that one time I thought I'd go through the canyons and collect some linen for bandages, and discovered that I was probably enjoying my harpie slaughter WAY too much -- maybe it's a guy thing, but there's just something sooo satisfying about taking them down with a boomstick laugh.gif

And I'm guessing it's not really possible for Horde and Allies to be in the same guild, or get some sort of "pass" just to visit safely, or even work up to a neutral status somehow? Wave a white flag, as it were. Just seems to me that at least taurs would be welcomed in Alliance territory, even if just as neutral. I mean, jinkies, their intentions are nicer than the goblin's blink.gif

I decided to try out mining/smithing last night...started a warrior, but got annoyed with him not always hitting (I mean, there's like a 1-2 second delay even when the bugger's standing in front of me, charging his spell to attack -- I'm just used to controlling when my guy attacks, like pretty much any other game y'know rolleyes.gif ), so I made a hunter. Doubt I'll be keeping him since this trial is with an email I rarely use, but it got me to thinking that I might do more merchanting with Jakjak, so he might end up doing a lot of business in the neutral AH. Maybe he can have GMC specials or something, free donuts with purchase on the weekends laugh.gif

There are neutral areas where Horde and Alliance can be together - Ratchet and Booty Bay are notable ones and there are neutral (but rarely used) auction houses there. However, they cannot communicate or be in the same guild, party, share items, or group. Areas that are controlled entirely by one side are quite dangerous - if you get too close to a controlled city, you can be flagged for PvP automatically.

That being said, there are emotes that are understood by both sides - just search 'WoW emotes' on the net and you should find them. Those are quite helpful when you come upon a Horde doing the same quest you are and you would like to work together. You can /point at the target, they can signal /yes, and then you can go after it together. Really helps if one of you are a hunter and then you can mark the targets too. I've cooperated with the other side on many a quest and had my bacon saved by some of the opposite team who just happened by several times. (edit: here ya go http://www.wow.com/2009/03/03/breakfast-to...-communication/ )

As you go up in levels, more and more of the areas are neutral and you spend quite a bit of time with the other side. Eventually, you will find even NPC's of the opposite side who will talk to you and give you quests. In Outlands, you are working together against the demons. In Northrend, you work together against the Scourge. Only in the beginning part of WoW are the factions very separate.
