Hey, now that I have Internet at home I expected I would be posting here all the time, but that isn't how it's worked . . . I'm so sorry. I've missed you all, and I have so much news to share (okay, what I really mean is I need to all to keep me sane!). I promise I'll try to come on more often. Anyway, for the past few weeks I haven't been able to come on. Remember how my computer got attacked with a virus when I downloaded an allegedly free program from a certain website? Well, yeah . . . I thought everything was okay but my game was still messed up, so I'm not taking any risks . . . I'm going to copy what files I can onto a flash drive I can scan elsewhere with a really good antivirus, then wipe the hard drive clean. It sucks a lot, but that's life I guess. Oh well.
I am right now on a little notebook computer Linda got almost for free (part of our phone/Internet service package). I don't like laptops much in the first place and this one is even awkwarder than most, but it works. It's wireless enabled, but we don't have a wireless connection; however, sometimes we've been able to connect just off the wireless connections floating around in the ether. (We're going to rig it up so that she runs it off the same landline DSL modem I use when she's at her desk, because trusting in the ether is unreliable.) Poor Linda isn't an experienced computer user, so she relies on me for a lot of things, and some of her questions seem, well, kind of n00b to me. After my computer was laid low by the virus, she asked me if her computer was also susceptible to viruses, seeing as it was wireless and all. I couldn't resist . . . I said "Well, you can get the common cold through wireless transmission, but not AIDS!"
I have been feeling horridly melancholy lately so I better stop now before I get all maudlin. Actually tonight I'd rather like to be maudlin, like someone in an old-fashioned melodrama. I should put the back of my hand to my forehead and sigh, "Ah me!" (Has anybody, even once, really done that spontaneously and not for melodramatic effect, even the first person ever to do it?)
Why is that one emoticon

called ph43r? What's that supposed to mean?
