So who else bought it and what do we think?

I am about halfway through the book right now and really enjoying it, would rate it as one of the best heresy books to date. Only bad thing is how short the book is, the price seems a bit high for the length of the book tbh,

Just finished it - awesome, just awesome! Fantastic depiction of the White Scars - Chris Wraight has got their character spot-on!

Why oh why aren't there WS Mk2 pads (and bike legs) available yet from FW?!?!

As soon as they are released - whenever that may be - I will return to doing White Scars! FOR THE KHAN!!!

I absolutely loved this book - even though I commissioned and edited it, I would objectively agree that it is right up there among the best of the Horus Heresy stories to date. smile.gif

It's just over 30,000 words, which is standard for a BL novella. The average lengths of products are:

Micro-short (story or audio) - up to 1,500 words
Event or chapbook short - 5,000 words
Regular short story - 8,000-15,000 words
Novella - 25,000-35,000 words
Short novel - 50,000-80,000 words
Novel - 100,000-150,000 words
Omnibus - 300,000-500,000 words

You can see this in 'The Primarchs' - four novellas, gathered as a single novel-length paperback at 120,000 words.

I agree. The characterisation was really good; the Scars from Chorogris felt different from the Terrans, and from those in the Munitorum. I enjoyed it and think it was well-written. I'd like to see a full HH novel from Chris Wraight. I'm intrigued to know what those Terran White Scars are up to next--and if they 'know' about Horus.

I also enjoyed the reference to expeditionary fleets with duplicate numbering, and the Scars not liking being compared to the Wolves!

Also, at the BL Weekender we confirmed that Chris is writing his first HH novel, and that it will follow the characters introduced in the novella.

Ooh, that's good! I don't think that was included in the Upcoming Horus Heresy seminar, although Chris himself raised an enigmatic eyebrow when asked about it.

You could have done - it was available to as many people who wanted it, for a whole week. It was advertised well in advance, too... like two months?

I didn't find out about it until after the window was closed (don't keep up with releases, and I had just gotten back into Heresy) and now there is no way for me to get it. I'll (hopefully) be able to get it 2nd hand at some point, but it may end up being prohibitively expensive...

Every collector edition book will hit regular print in a few years,if you do not want to pay the mark-up
Shadows of Trechery had Lightning Tower and Dark King in it.
That was a games day only chapbook.

Yes right, I believe it's been stipulated before that the delay will be 2 years before it comes out in an anthology or the like. Don't throw yourself to the ebay sharks unless you have money to burn!
