'Equerry' comes from the latin root 'Equus', for horse. In the days when influential men (particularly military-minded ones) rode horses, the equerry was the person who looked after their master's horse.

It grew to be an influential post in itself (particularly if you were a Royal equerry – who looked after the monarch's horse), and the title continued even once horses became little-seen on battlefields (or indeed, elsewhere).

Basically, it means a trusted, important servant – someone who deals with matters that are not important enough to bother their master.

You mean Equerry,it's kinda like a second in command only
they are record keepers and record a exploit or exploits of a Hero.
(For instance Malogurst is equerry to Horus.)Some of them use to be marines but either were disfigured (like poor Malogurst)and unable to fight.but retains a kinda Honorary captainship,because of his exploits.
