Huhu, Every day I keep getting a new package with bits for my Pre-Heresy army ( E-bay FTW ) and I just about have enough to start my Luna Wolves army. I'm starting out with a Tactical Squad, an Assault Squad, a Squad of termies, 2 Landspeeders and an HQ. The thing however is that I want a couple of HQ's: - A random captain
- Mournival members
- Horus
... and with Horus lies the problem! I have pictures/artwork/photographs of pretty much all the mournival members, but I'm on blank about Horus! I am re-reading the Horus Heresy series so I can get some info on what he looks like, but the only bit of artwork I could find is that well-known piece when he's about to give the emperor an ass-whuppin'! Is there such a thing as a pre-heresy picture of Horus? and if not, do any of you guys know what Horus looks like exactly? Detail on his head/armour/weapons would be greatly appreciated! Thanx in advance,

Here are some details of Horus which I hope will be of some help to you.
We are told that his head was bare and shaven. Horus has a noble and sculptural face. His skin was deeply tanned by multiple sunlights and he has wide-spaced eyes and gleaming teeth. (Horus Rising P. 114-115) His face is '...perfect in every dimension and detail, suffused in radiance. So beautiful. So very beautiful.' (Horus Rising P.43)
Physically he is described as:
'...a true giant, as large again to any Astartes warrior as an Astartes was to a normal man.' (Horus Rising P.43)
He has a range of different armours and clothing which he wears during the period in which he is loyal and are described as follows:
'...His armour was white gold, like the sunlight at dawn, the work of master artificers. Many symbols covered its surfaces, the chief of which was the motif of a single, staring eye fashioned across the breastplate. Robes of white cloth fluttered out behind the terrible haloed figure.' He has a storm bolter in his right hand on this occasion (Horus Rising P. 43)
He later also wears this same armour with furs (Horus Rising P. 114-115).
Another armour that he wears whilst still the Primarch of the Luna Wolves is a full ceremonial wargear of;
'...gleaming gold and frost white, with a vast mantle of purple scale-skin draped across his shoulders. The eye of Terra stared from his breastplate.' (Horus Rising P. 215)
After the Luna Wolves become the Sons of Horus, the Primarch's armour changes subtlely. The Sons of Horus are still loyal servants of the Emperor at this point:
'...his armour gleaming gold and ocean green, with a cloak of regal purple framing him perfectly. A single, carved red eye stared out from his breastplate and a wreath of laurels sat upon his perfect brow.' (False Gods P. 30)
He is later also described in a slightly different armour.
'...arrayed as he was in a magnificent suit of plate armour, the colour of a distant ocean and a cloak of deepest purple. The eye of Terra shone on his breast...' (False Gods P. 55-56)
Horus also wears a '...gleaming battle armour the colour of a winter sky, its rims formed of beaten gold, and bas-relief text filling each shoulder guard. Bright against his chest plate was a staring red eye, like a drop of blood on virgin snow.' (False Gods P. 82)
There are also times when he doesn't wear armour at all. An example of this is when he is described as wearing foul weather clothing, a mail shirt, black leather gloves and furs (Horus Rising P. 195)
Another point that should be also taken in consideration is the fact that the books only describe Horus at a very exact chronological point. There is a vast amount of time when the reader simply does not know what Horus is wearing or doing. So there is no need to take the above details as the only things that Horus ever wore.
Too many times members state; '...that such and such only ever wore this because it only mentions it here.' This I feel is completely wrong given the extremely limited insights we are given into the Pre-Heresy/Heresy universe.
In addition Horus was not only a Primarch, but he was the Emperor's first son and also the Warmaster: so he would have an unlimited access to any wargear, clothing, etc. that he wanted. So if you don't like the sound of any of the wargear descriptions above then just use your imagination and create somthing amazing.
I for one would love to see what you design.

WOW HAHA! I was going through the HH novels again too and writing all this down, but you definately beat me to it! Thanx a lot Vespasian & Lion I want to design a piece of armour for Horus during the time of the Luna Wolves. A re-ocurring thing in pretty much most of his appearances is that he's always bald, most armours have the 'Eye of Terra', his armour is pretty much very bright and he uses a lot of white gold. The fact that there aren't any Pre-Heresy pics of Horus does give me that bit of 'artistic freedom' that comes in quite handy So I'm thinking: - White armour
- A huge cloak
- Sword + 'Ranged weapon'
- No helmet
- True-scale him!
By truescaling him he should dwarf all my other marines and it would definately feel more fluffy. I haven't descided yet if I wanna give him Power Armour or Termi armour yet, perhaps I can mix it around a bit. So thanx again, Vesp! and I'll post some pics once I start with him!

10 points to Vred it is indeed the sword from the Black Templar Emperor's Champion give yourself a pat on the back I just cut the mace off and replaced it with the sword I think it looks rather snazzy with the extra long handle The white resin base I stole from the Sanguini.... sorry winged knight mini The white colour is just skull white paint.

I found a descent combi bolter, with the new new Termi Librarian, it pretty much fits with all of the Primarchs that have combi bolters(stormbolters) Might have to get me a couple more of them if I make the Luna wolfy Horus, and a few other Primarchs.
