Here are a few new troopers I have started to get the ball rolling on some non-marines. I have chosen to use the forgeworld renegade stuff and mixed it with Cadians. Not gone too heavy on modifications just yet as all that stuff should be passable for 30k. Wanted to give the feel that they had only just turned so not really much in the way of mutations yet. Planning on making a few conscripts/cultists though to go a bit wild with in the form of necromunda gangs, and real primitive looking rag-tag guys..... and maybe some plague zombies smile.gif

Gas Masks give me the creeps. blink.gif

It was that Doctor Who episode with "Are you my mummy?" that did it. *shudders*

The Empty Child.

You'll never be a true Slaanesh worshipper without a thing for gas masks...alot of the guys on EC.net have far too many gas masks...weird.

These guys look well sweet, they last picture the guys look like they're looking at me....Mummy!

Finally got round to making the army command squad and while they are a little rough around the edges they will do for now! I realise with a Guard army not too heavy on tanks I need to paint millions more men!

Here is my general with only drybrushing and face done. I almost thought of leaving it at that.

Here is a Psyker attached to the squad although still not quite happy with him.

Then lastly the whole gang. Basically I'm trying to build this army as an IG regiment who aren't essentially bad guys, they just think Horus has treated them well and fall into his side. They are quite a fascistic and dogmatic lot as most imperials are/will be and as such aren't too chaotic yet. Just a few little mutations here and there with a little armour customisation. Sorry about crappy use of flash! Anyway hope you like and I will stop being so lazy soon and try and take some better pics.

Looking good man - I think the officer definitely benefits from the splashes of colour, and I LOVE that psyker!

Love the figures and paint jobs but i don't really like the way the commanders legs look but he does look great with the increased paint and the psyker is great.

I must admit I'm not a fan of the legs, its the first 'proper' go at sculpting something big with GS and so I didn't really expect it to look fantastic especially stuck to the bottom to a piece of fine Forgeworld sculpting but it did teach me a lot about the process. A new general will probably be on the cards in the future.

I like your command squad, it looks like somin from a non GW game that i cant renember the name of, I take it by sculpting you meen the commisars legs, however I my not be correct on this but werent commisars not round till after the heresy, and insted they were impirial officers (well in your case non imperial biggrin.gif )
is that commisar model from the new range of them or just one of the old models, I've never seen it before ohmy.gif .....

According to one source, post-Heresy (not sure what it is). According to the IG Codex, they were around pre-Heresy.

I imagine the name and dress code may not always have been constant but would assume disciplinary officers with the same role would have been around a long time!

Gene-Whips in the Geno, discipline masters in the John Blanche concept sketches. Those are the only two examples that I can think of right now... Been a while since I've read anything 30k...

I wasn't really into having a Commissar as such, just an officer who looked a bit sinister and looked at loads of Nazi type WW2 minis but nothing seemed to do the job apart from the Commissar models. Then I was thinking about giving him a khaki coat as that is the main regiment colours. But then his squad (which I was thinking would be elite/grenadiers etc) would get all the best armour in nice glossy all black so a green overcoat was out of the question. Then I drybrushed the black in and tried a bit of gold and silver piping on the coat but it didn't look right, then I went with the red and you get what is basically a commissar! A bit of a round the houses journey but at least they still look pretty sinister wacko.gif
