I thought about including a squad of Phoenix Guard to my army (Fulgrim aswell, of course). Now how would you do them?

I thought about doing them like those two chaps from Marneus Calgars honour guard.

(the ones left and right next to him)

Say those helmets and halberds as weapons. Maybe coats aswell.

Yay or nay?

Go for it, though it might be a bit hard to introduce variation... Either that or GS the wings on to standard helmets...

Well, my GS skills are somewhat...uhm, non-existent. But youŽre right, IŽll have to GS some wings as I donŽt want a squad consisting of only two different types of minis. Bah.

A good bit of advice I've seen bandied about is to buy some green stuff, cut off half and store it away, then take the second half and mess around putting hair on heads (or practicing wings) until you've used it all. By that time, your skills should have naturally evolved...

Aye, that sounds like a plan. I think I still have some older GS at home, should give it a try. The biggest thing IŽve ever GSed was a tentacle arm for a traitor guardsman, and that turned out crappy. Oh well.

My question is about their range weapons, did they have any? Could they have bolters?

I wanted to use grey knights and they have hand-mounted stormbolters that i could use as twin-linked bolters.

I wanted to play them as csm terminators with single lightning claws and twin-linked bolters.
Is there any artwork related to them? I haven't found anything, and in "Fulgrim" I haven't found any good place where they are better describt... need help ;-)

I would personally go, as suggested above, for the Varangii-style helmet, great big aquila on the chest, togas and capes. I don't see any reason why you couldn't include bolters, though there are absolutely no descriptions of them firing a shot, that I can remember anyway (just finished Fulgrim again).

If you don't give them bolters, then just count them as twin lightning claws, owing to their perfection in battle (or somesuch...).

I believe their halberds have golden blades, and that's just about all the details you get out of the book (no doubt vespasian will soon correct me though... biggrin.gif).

Oh, and I'd stick a sweeping wing on their left shoulderpads, like their primarch (instead of just painted on).

Look what i found:

http://www.blacklibrary.com/pdf/artbooks/hh3.pdf

Thats not the Phoenix Guard, but they are close.

I guess i'll go with the grey knights 'cause there would be just some modeling to do(as the winged helmets and the aquilia on the brest plate and also the Wing on the shoulderpats is a great idea!
thx!

As for the Weapons, it would be very much to cut off all the Bolters from the grey knight models, so ill leave them on. and the will be have a single lightning claw and a twin-linked Bolter.

Good thing is, with the new Rules they can shoot the Bolter counting as stationary and can still attack in CC XD sweet!
