Its definately not from the main rulebook (I just checked), but I'm 90% sure RT era Salamanders were that colour - I have some painted up from back then which are the same dark green that the dark angels became in 2nd ed.

It might be one of the astronomican/compendium books (or perhaps even the original painting guide), i'll have a gander and then post what I find!

Though that particular Astartes originates in the Salamanders IA article, I think you'll find that this pic is from Horus Heresy: Collected Visions.

Collected Visions. Some of the marine artwork in there has this dark ruddy green too, hence my choice of paint smile.gif

For what it's worth, my original Salamanders (before the release of Codex:Armageddon) were a similar colour. My pre-Heresy ones (still very WIP) are going to use a technique I used on my Chaos Warriors of the time, which was basically Dark Angels Green blended with Brazen Brass for a dark, dull green metallic look.
