Title: Pre-Heresy Iconography Transfers

Vredesbyrd - January 20, 2008 06:06 PM (GMT)
As I'm sure most of you are aware the guys over at Bell of Lost Souls have come up with some great downloadable Pre-Heresy transfer sheets for the Legion's whose iconography has changed since the days of the Great Crusade, and also those neglected by GW. I'm going to post all the links to them here for those of us who're just too damn lazy, or not confident enough to attempt freehand decals. Also having them all in one place makes life easier for people.

After downloading them you'll need to get your hands on some transfer paper, I've posted a link below for that too.

I have a set of the Alpha Legion a friend made me a set of these they are really nice. One thing to keep in mind tho before you use them as he told me. Make sure you spray them down with a matt finish before you use them and let the sheet sit for a few days to cure. Again great set of transfers BOLS did a great job on these.

Also if you Gloss Varnish the area that the transfer is to be applied to first it adheres better, then a few layers of Matt Varnish over the top to keep it in place.

Hmmm, those look like they could be released by Games Workshop. They look really official, that guy should think about working for them.

Just make sure to download them all onto your tower and not to rely on a site you never know what'll happen.
Now off to follow my own advice ;)

I have been told to use a gloss varnish on top of the transfer sheet after its been printed - does it make much difference?

Thanks for the tip re letting it sit for a few days...it's been a while since I tried with my first set of transfers, but despite spraying several coats of varnish, they still ran when I applied them. Perhaps I was just too impatient...hopefully the next set will be better :)
