Description: Thread for submissions & discussions

Gagoc TheAncient - March 9, 2008 07:44 PM (GMT)
I've posted this because I can't find one posted by Mithras and I want to post my meager contribution, so here goes.

This is a dedicated thread for submissions of work and discussion thereof related to the Visual Codex Project.

Damn thats good.... :o

I actually have some of Qiao's stuff bookmarked in my TS inspiration file, but I'm not sure if it works to inspire me or simply make me feel dismayed at my lack of brushcraft.

So I see!

Welcome to the forum Qiao! Care to share some tips on how you manage to pack so much awesome detail into your models? I presume a lot of the detail is GS? And your NMM is superb. Inspirational stuff.

Qiao Zhong - September 29, 2008 09:30 AM (GMT)
Thank you for words.
my thousand son's almost of detail was GS. I'm always looking for suitable bitz for them, but almost nothing to find.

recently, I found brass/stainless libet. they're quite usuful to pre-heresy marine's power armour. I used 0.8mm libethead to TS helmet.

libet head

I don't know this shop to ship international. :(

I wish I could decipher the symbols... :(

With the first link, do you mean the segmented look to the cap-type thing in the picture?

Love your models by the way - make more! :D

Iacton - September 29, 2008 11:42 AM (GMT)
Woah!! Japanese webpage! :o

I think that those are tank track pins aren't they?

Anyway, welcome to the site QZ and I look forward to seeing more of your lovely creations ;)

Qiao Zhong - September 30, 2008 02:07 AM (GMT)
Thank you all.
My English skill is not good. 'I cannot say' I want to explain many of things in English
so much.

sorry, forget about the first link.

these pins are for miniature tank, naturally.
you can cut and insert them where you like.

compare with a plastic stick or a ordinaly setting pin, it's very useful.
because of pretty smaller ,solid and beautiful shape.

Apologist - September 30, 2008 09:45 AM (GMT)
Your English is much better than my Chinese, Qiao Xhong! Welcome to the forum, and thank-you for the good ideas: they will be very useful. :)

Your painting is absolutely beautiful I particularly like your rendition of Ahriman.

Qiao Zhong - May 30, 2009 01:53 AM (GMT)

Beautiful work, Takahiro.

I'm a big fan of your work, and I too am excited about your next piece (especially because I know what it is! ^_^ )

Magos Explorator - June 14, 2009 04:35 PM (GMT)
I built and painted this Thousand Sons marine as a colour test. I took a bunch of WIP pictures so will post up a tutorial later.

The metallic colour is based on some of the artwork in Collected Visions; I am consciously trying to move to more 'natural' colours, so opted for a metallic red as I was worried using a bright shade might look a bit garish. Although metallic colours may still be a bit non-traditional for marines, I think it suits my painting style better.

Apologies, though, for the camera lighting--it's left parts of the model in shadow. I've still not quite figured out the optimum setup for my equipment.

How long does each miniature take?

I am lost for words... :D

Qiao Zhong - October 14, 2011 04:41 AM (GMT)
Thank you for words.
When I paint a character minis (like named one) seriously, it takes about about 1 month per minis (1-2 hours/day), because of need conversion. In case of painting nameless one such a tactical marine, it takes about 1 week. :o

Apologist - October 19, 2011 03:49 PM (GMT)
Glorious: those are incredible, inspirational figures, Qiao Zhong.
