Title: Chaos Star

Sorry if this has been asked before, when would the traitor forces (from the Astartes to the Imperial Army regiments to the Dark Mechanicum) have taken up using the chaos star as a symbol. I'm guessing the Word Bearers would have taken it up first but how a out the others. What about the other choas symbols, when would the Slaanesh icon be taken up by the Emperor's Children for example.

Some forms of Chaos symbols seem to have been a part of some Legions since they found their Primarchs.
These symbols appear as part of the heritage of each of these Legions new homeworld.

Others had them introduced with the Lodges.
And you must remember that these symbols were unknown as being of Chaos by the vast majority of humanity, and may only have been known by the Emperor alone.

There's even references to there being such symbols being openly displayed by Galaxy In Flames.

Would the Emperor have not recognised what it symbolised? Or did he not think it matterd?

I was thinking, could the little styalised chaos star that the newer chaos space marines get be used as lodge symbols?

They didn't exactly stroll around with banners with the symbol of khorne emblazoned across them, they just occasionally had religions/cultures on their worlds that had had some basis in chaos cults, not in a major way where they knew what it actually was, it was just something that was vaguely present.

So yeah, lodges very naturally involved that kind of thing from the various warrior cultures, for instance a marine might have had a keepsake from his old life that was a khorne symbol, where it came from a cultural tribe thing and meant nothing more than a warrior lifestyle to him.

It wasn't a majorly big deal that the emperor would have noticed, it was just present, as it was throughout the majority of the galaxy at that time, in varying degrees.

Insofar as the chaos star being a lodge symbol, it'd be pretty perfect actually IMO. it's stylised and not really Brutal, but still identifiable. It would also explain the sudden new chaos star that's everywhere all of a sudden :P

Thanks for your answers. One last question. Would the warrior lodges, or simular, have been spread to the Imperial Army?

No - the lodges were exclusive to the Legions.

There were a lot more opportunities to indoctrinate humans though. The Brotherhoods in KNF were almost exclusively civilians and Imperial Army.

Many thanks. I guess a lot of the army and fleet elements followed the Primarchs and the Legions out of loyalty.
