Title: im confused with legion of one
Lord_Mortirion - December 16, 2012 07:21 PM (GMT)
first, i have just heard it, and it is amazing :D
now if i remember correctly, tarik was beheaded, and his body is still in the building, as loken talks to it, yet in 'know no fear' erebus strokes a canister with bits of tarik in it, yet 'legion of one' is set AFTER the battle for calth. unless im wrong :/

In Legion of One Loken is pretty far gone.
He could be talking to anyone as he was obviously hallucinating, and with the plethora of dead and decapitated bodies he could easily have believed one ws Tarik.
See much easier than just blaminung the warp.
Who's to say that Erebus has actual bits of Tarik anyway?
malika - December 16, 2012 08:57 PM (GMT)
What if Erebus took Tarik's Geneseed and used that?
ShroudFilm - December 17, 2012 12:23 AM (GMT)
It is quite explicitly stated that it was Tarik's geneseed in the flask.
Lord_Mortirion - December 17, 2012 02:23 AM (GMT)
bit random undressing him, pinching his gene seed and dressing him again. ahh well, thx shroud now i know my head can stop hurting.
Yvraith - December 17, 2012 05:45 AM (GMT)
Who said that Erebus took it personally?
It would of been quite easy for Abaddon or Aximand to have taken it, once he was dead, before they left the surface of Istvaan.

Space Marines give their first batch of geneseed once it matures. They do that when they are still alive... this sample was taken from the XVI Legion banks, clearly.

They do? I always thought that they kept both, the one in the neck maturing faster than the one in the chest, but still needing both removed by the Apothecaries at the point of death.
I'm pretty sure at least one BL story has an Apothecary removing both - but maybe we could attribute that to a 40K Chapter quirk, or differences between 30K and 40K protocols, etc.
Gagoc TheAncient - December 17, 2012 05:58 PM (GMT)
It's always been that one geneseed matures after a number of years and is removed, whilst the other is removed upon point of death.
The only way they'd remove both is if the Astartes died before the first was removed.
BigWill - December 18, 2012 03:34 AM (GMT)
They state how it works in the very first Space Marine book titled Space Marine
They are giving two the first matures in 5 years, they made a big deal about how the scouts better not die because they will commit the crime of denying the chapter their seed.
The other is removed at death.
I read quite a few stories where they hack out both,I also read a story of a Marine ninja flipping over a Rhino while sporting his trusted Multi-Laser too ;)

Shhh, those Ninja Marines are a huge secret.....
Why do you think no one knows anything about the 2 & 11th Legions? :ph43r:

Loken could have been buried for a long time. Plenty long for Erebus to return and find the dead body of Tarik. Violate it then leave if behind for Loken to find once he dug himself out... months later. I do think it was Tarik he was talking to though. Garro said it had the markings of a Sons of Horus Captain.
What i find interesting is that the body was recognizable at all. The way people talk about the Bombardment it seems like it should have been dust.

Buried well enough to keep Loken alive! :P
Seriously... I answered this query. The gene-seed was taken from the Vengeful Spirit storage banks.
I'm not sure how much more explicit I can be.
