BigWill - December 11, 2012 10:33 PM (GMT)

Space Wolves according to the seminar at the BL Weekender.

Thanks.

I wonder if this will be a flashback type novel? How the Imperium was, what was lost and what could have been? If only Charles Dickens had written a Christmas Carol in space :P

ShroudFilm - December 12, 2012 12:16 AM (GMT)
Haha, nope... it was explained at BL Weekender, and has been hinted at in several novels so far...

SPOILER ALERT

QUOTE
This is the beginning of the story of 'Imperium Secundus', as first mentioned in Rules of Engagement and then again at the end of Fear to Tread.

During the Age of Darkness, the Astronomican disappeared for a long time. Fearing that the Emperor was dead, Guilliman set up a new homeworld for mankind, centred at Ultramar. It was his belief that he could create a second human empire to challenge Horus's Imperium for dominance of the galaxy, and he was probably right - even after Calth and the other traitor attacks in the area, Ultramar was VERY strong and protected geographically (in a galactic sense).

But Guilliman was a pragmatist, and knew that he wasn't the man to lead the common people. He suspected that Sanguinius was always intended to be the Emperor's heir, and so set himself up as kingmaker and when Sanguinius arrived at Macragge he was offered the crown - he would be Emperor while Guilliman became something like his Warmaster.

But there is a reason that this entire section of Imperial history does not appear in the records... and what that reason is, has yet to be revealed...

Besides, everyone knows that 'A Christmas Carol' in space was basically the plot of 'Aurelian'...

I like the piv for the most part. The White Scars feet do look silly.

Damn it, I hate it when you do that.

And no I don't mean about you referring to 'A Christmas Carol in Space'.. ;)

Markus Krell - December 12, 2012 11:55 AM (GMT)
I'd quite like to see a HH style "A Christmas Carol" akin to the Blackadder one... that probably says more about me than I should be revealing!! :)

Anyway. So (at least) four legions re-grouped in Ultramar; I hope that there's a Mexican stand-off at the start between the primarchs at the start.

ShroudFilm - December 12, 2012 02:12 PM (GMT)
Four Legions doesn't necessarily mean four primarchs... There could be more, or fewer...

Markus Krell - December 12, 2012 02:23 PM (GMT)
You sir are a tease!!

Well there's at least two!! Maybe that's how they decided who the new emperor would be... Sanguinius was the only other primarch to turn up!

I always thought that Horus' fall in False Gods was meant to be the 40K equivalent of Black Adder's Christmas Carol.
Pity they messed it up!

"You're not the Ghost of Christmas Past and Future! You're Erebus."

Markus Krell - December 12, 2012 03:19 PM (GMT)
Would the Ghost of Christmas Past, Ghost of Chirstmas Present and Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come just be Tzeentch?! :)

Who is 'they'...?

Gagoc TheAncient - December 12, 2012 06:00 PM (GMT)
They being the writer and who so ever was in charge of keeping the HH novels from messing up too much.
You know Shroud, that job you now do so well! :D

I recall Dan mentioning, 'the most Primarchs ever featured in a HH novel' and 'giant superhero battles'. I'm hoping it's more. :D

BigWill - December 12, 2012 07:58 PM (GMT)
What interests me is how Sangini got to Ultramar in the first place.
He thought he was going to Terra via the Beacon.
But arrives at Ultramar,Ultramar has an Astromonicon too?
How do they power it if the Emperor is dead hmmmm.
I think I know how they figure out how to alternately power the real Astronomicon this book

ShroudFilm - December 12, 2012 11:23 PM (GMT)
Now that, I can't say...

You really will have to wait for the novel to find why Sanguinius was drawn to Ultramar instead of Terra. ;)

In fact - bonus cookie for anyone who can name another character to whom this has already happened in the HH.

Leman Russ SW - December 13, 2012 01:15 AM (GMT)
The Imperial Fist fleet from Crimson Fist?

ShroudFilm - December 13, 2012 01:44 AM (GMT)
Correct! Alexis Polux, and the crew of the stolen Iron Warriors ship, the Contrador.

The plot thickens.

Ogun - December 15, 2012 11:11 AM (GMT)
It would be great if Barabas Dantioch turned up for a cameo as well. Particularly if he meets up with Polux! :)

i can see that sort of meet up becoming a case of "my ship's bigger than yours"

Hraesvelgr - December 17, 2012 02:48 AM (GMT)
Ah intriguing, I thought Polux had got to Terra, and his statement in the negative was his reaction to the fortifications that the Sol system had gone through.

ShroudFilm - December 17, 2012 01:45 PM (GMT)
No, it's literally NOT Terra... and he turned up in a ship bearing the colours of a known traitor Legion...

BigWill - December 17, 2012 03:16 PM (GMT)
Man the Savior pods asap ;)
