So what do we think it is chaps? My first thought is a siege breaker in Tartaros pattern armour.

BigWill - December 10, 2012 06:18 PM (GMT)
Saturnine or the Justaerin is my guess

Warhamster Horus - December 10, 2012 06:31 PM (GMT)
I'm putting my bets on either;

1) A legion variant of the Tartorus Terminators. (No Cruxes and Chest Eagles)

OR

2) One of the Legion Centurions (Forge Lord/Siege Master?) in Tartorus Armour

@ Big Will- It's definatley not the Justaerin, you can see the models for those in Forge World's "Horus Heresy Miniatures Gallery" video. They are gorgeous sculpts. :)

Vinnie - December 10, 2012 06:47 PM (GMT)
I'm gonna say a variant pattern of Terminator armour. The Thallax did occur to me at first, but this snippet bears far too much resemblance to termies I think...

Gagoc TheAncient - December 10, 2012 08:02 PM (GMT)
Well it's not the Justaerin. They are in Cataphractii armour which can clearly be seen in this video at 31 secs:

What can be seen in the FW Sneak Peek is obviously Tartaros armour, but more ornate than the average.
Nor do I think it is Abbadon's Justaerin armour, which is based on Cataphractii pattern.

Stupid work internet filters...... all I can go on is your comments on the thread.....

That being said, I hope it looks awesome, when I finally get to look at it, I can go "Oooh... that's what they were all talking about..."

Space marine that has been hit with a Macro Cannon?

And if it's just the leg, does that mean it's only 25% of the price?

Brother Handro - December 10, 2012 09:47 PM (GMT)
Well we all seem to agree it looks like a Tartarus pattern variant, so let's speculate wildly on that tangent...

Will it be a unit or a character? I have to guess unit, as character models recently have been getting some form of basing piece with them, a la Legion Champion, Apothecaries. Then again the Mk IV Command/Standard bearer and the Master of Signal did not. Hmmm <_<

I'd like to say it's some form of Consul in Tartarus armour, possibly the Siege Breaker as the Fabricator suggested. Maybe even a Praetor model, we saw a Gamesday pic of a EC Praetor based on a Master of the Chapter model IIRC? So HQ units following on from the Champ/Signals pack could be a possibility.

Otherwise it may be a terminator Command squad with bling, maybe even Deathshroud, though I'd expect Cataphractii armour for them. It's a bit early to expect Legion-specific stuff from the next book, right? Otherwise I'd throw Morlocks into the ring...

Or who knows, maybe the mysterious Saturnine pattern may just be an up-armoured variant of the Tartarus, as the MkIII is to Mk II.

You did see that Handro, It was built by my friend Matt that paints armies for forgeworld.

BigWill - December 10, 2012 10:09 PM (GMT)
No they said the next book was going to be years end or right at the start
It says 2013 model
You might be onto something with Morlocks

Or it might be Legion Tartarus which would be what it takes for me to buy them.

The Fabricator General - December 13, 2012 11:03 AM (GMT)
The new picture would seem to suggest death shroud.

Arden Fell - December 13, 2012 11:23 AM (GMT)
Yeah. I'm getting a distinctly Death Guard feeling about this guy too.

I think TFG nailed it with Deathshroud.

Brother Handro - December 13, 2012 01:45 PM (GMT)
Hmm, I did suggest Deathshroud, as a bling command squad version of Tartarus armour, but I didn't want it to happen! <_<

I'd have thought the Death Guard would have their terminators in Cataphractii, for the same aesthetic and tactical reasons their marines favour MkIII, but I hope they give a reasonable fluff explanation in the little box o' blurb we usually get.

Maybe it's because Tartarus is more mobile, and Deathshroud can't lockstep everywhere in Cataphractii armour!

The chest armour looks great, really Death Guard-y, I'm hoping the helmet is a variant too, with respirators, hoses, etc, although there's not much space to work with.

But then of course I'll really want some...

Really glad I built my GK-based Deathshroud before this happened anyway, otherwise they'd have never made it off the sprue, would have been a bit like after the Lord Mayor's Show...

Ilmarinen - December 13, 2012 02:04 PM (GMT)
I would have thought Deathshroud would have been in Cataphractii armour as well, but this definitely looks like a Death Guard Tartaros terminator, with the handle of a power scythe.

I've just checked HH:Betrayer and it doesn't say anything about Deathshroud being in Cataphractii armour (even though the artwork in Collected Visions indicated that's the terminator variant they use).

Hmm, I'm sure these Deathshroud will look awesome though.

Hraesvelgr - December 13, 2012 02:21 PM (GMT)
The Deathshroud does now seem the likely thing, it could still be a Death Guard special character though, like Crysos Morturg or Durak Rask. Since I've not read Betrayal I'm not sure if they're kitted out in Terminator armour.

Apologies for my rather lacklustre MS Paint skills. :P

I don't think it is detailed enough for a special character. Deathshroud Termies would be my guess.
