personally i like, but what did you use to make that spiked shoulder pad?

It is just a Mk 2 shoulderpad with some spiky bits glued on with superglue. I cut off the tips from Warhammer chaos knight weapons.

And the other more strange looking one is simply a Chaos Knight shoulderpad that happens to fit easily on the Marines shoulder.

Very nice mate. Love the spikes. I've been thinking of ways to add spikes - yoink!

Love them, especially the one with the spiked shoulder pad. You've really got the whole traitor vibe to those models.

Dingdingding! We have a winner! I have finally, at long last, found my favourite Sons of Horus miniatures. Fantastic effort bloke, I hope to see plenty more where these came from!

First of all, I love your Sons of Horus. They are really great, in fact, I think they have the best paintjob I have ever seen.
The colours are really dark and exactly as I imgagined them to be.

Would it be possible to have a small tutorial on how you painted them and what colours you used for them? That would be absolutly awsome!

Kepp up the good work :)

Beautiful job, those guys look really menacing - exactly as they should be!

Nice idea with the spikes which I think befits their nature well also - and the damage is a nice touch as well (that must have been one big hit on his shoulded pad!)

Overall, A+ user posted image

Thanks guys, the paintjob for the Sons of Horus is:

Green Armor:

55/45 mix of Knarloc green and fenris gray
Paint a 70/30 mix of nuln oil and agrax earthshade into crevices
clean up with original mix
add astronomican gray to original mix for first stage highlights
use pure astronomican gray for selective edge highlights
paint all of the rivets/studs chainmail
glaze all armor with slightly watered nuln oil for the dark finish.
selective highlight again with Astronomican gray.

Cthonian Runes:

done with mix of Iyanden Darksun, Shining gold, and a little charadon granite. should be 50/40/10.

Black armor:
chaos black basecoat
very watery scorched brown painted into some crevices.
Adeptus battlegray highlights
Codex gray highlights
Fortress gray dots added on sharpest corners

its quite simple, though not exactly a quick process.

Sadly these are all the models I had to paint at the moment, so until I save up some money for more which could take months...who knows...its like over 60 bucks for 5 assault marines... I do plan on doing some Emperor's Children too, so expect some of them unless something really changes my mind.

EDIT: I will also post more, and better pics of the Sons of Horus models once I add the Forgeworld transfers to them, right now the models dont have any eye of Horus on their shoulders...they should arrive sometime this week I hope.
