Title: Legion Apothecaries

Hi guys,

Just question which I thought could be answered by the collective might that is TGC!

I'm about to paint an apothecary for my Sons of Horus command squad - what colour is their armour? Should it be white or legion colour?

I've seen different versions - such as legion colours with white helmet and left arm.

Appreciate all opinions.

Skoal!

Hey mate!

I asked the same question a while ago on here. The answer I got back was that there were examples of both in the Collected Visions books.

I think for mine I went with the Apothecary in Legion colours because:
a) They didn't have that 'schoolum prognosticum' or whatever back in Pre-Heresy days (I completely made that name up - but there is a 'doctors school' that all apothecaries get sent to in 40k, which AFAIK doesn't exist in 30k). You can imagine the Apothecaries would have been trained in-house by the legion, perhaps their home world or even on Terra.
b ) Librarians/techmarines wore the legion colours during pre-heresy times, again I think for the same reason as above.
c) It's another way you can differentiate your stuff from a 40k marine force - not a big thing though I guess for the SoH, who are obviously pre-heresy with the absence of black armour and tentacles!

So in my own mind it would be more logical in several ways for them to be in Legion colours, and it's also a cool little aesthetic twist to presenting a marine force.

But that being said, I guess you could make an argument for either option being OK!

Cheers mate!

That's decided then - legion colours with white helm and left arm (think it will look cool).

Nearly finished my terminators now - update to blog incoming....

Yeah, I always saw it as being Legion colours. Fabius wears purple armour, with a white robe when he needs it, for example.

I reckon it varies. Deliverance Lost mentions an Apothecary in white armour.

I quite like the old RT-style Apothecary colour schemes - white highlights wherever you like, basically.

You can safely say that Luna Wolves, White Scars & World Eaters apothecaries wore White armour.....

Not that that I'm being overly helpful with that comment....

I do agree that in my mind, Apothecaries would wear legion colours predominantly, with either white pads, white trim or as you mentioned a white arm to differentiate them from the normal rank & file of the legion.

Not if you follow the RT colour schemes - then the WS Apothecary would be mostly red!

True, but RT schemes aren't necessarily Heresy era schemes...
But I must admit I do like a lot of them...
