Title: Horus Heresy Trailer from FW

Dargor - August 21, 2012 11:25 AM (GMT)
This is it. [I'M ILLITERATE] just got real.

Horus Heresy

I...I'm lost for words...

Thorgrim Blackwolf - August 21, 2012 11:33 AM (GMT)
Christ! Now I wish I had bought a Games Day ticket this year!!!

That artwork is up there with the stuff that is comissioned for Fantasy Flights's books.

I may have to take out a small loan at this rate...

Cheers

Thorgrim

Aquila - August 21, 2012 12:00 PM (GMT)
But judging from the scene at 01:00-01:02 we won't get sculpted shoulder pads (as the rumours promised), since the miniatures shown are just the already available armour marks with a new Death Guard paint scheme.
Have to admit I'm somewhat disappointed now.

Mortarion - August 21, 2012 12:53 PM (GMT)
Just better hope they have enough copies to satisfy demand at games day else I see.a riot ensuing.

Looks awesome though, inspires me to carry on with my iron warriors

rabblerouser - August 21, 2012 01:02 PM (GMT)
Book looks pretty good.

BigWill - August 21, 2012 01:05 PM (GMT)
As Vinny would say this is a Balls out occasion.
But in the US we say he'll yeah Rock out with your.....

This is the book I have waited years for,FW always puts out gorgeous books

Wow! At least now FW is finally stopping the pretence that those pre-heresy armour marks were for the Badab War, and I'm genuinely excited about what is going to come next..

Looks bloody amazing though, and a great video!

(Still not enough to convince me to go to Games Day though haha.. :D)
Although I'm going to be abroad in any case, hopefully news of release dates, forthcoming ranges etc. will have come out by the time I come back!

HAHAHAHAHA.....I feel the warp overtaking me...it is a good pain...

This was a proper trailer, compared to what we usually get for mainstream GW releases.

Would be disappointed if we didn't get sculpted pads. Transfers would do tho', and pads may make an appearance later down the line.

That Emperor's Children marine looked awesome...less keen on the return to metallic for Sons of Horus even tho' it is canonical.

If Book One is Isstvan III there will be loyalist and traitor lists for each legion then?

Damn I miss that game, DOW2 just ruined it

I bet they come out with more brass etch, then you just glue onto the proper shoulderpad for that suit.
Or they would have to make a mk4 shoulder pack,mk3 shoulder pack ect for all the legions.

They've done it before. All armour marks in one set.

BigWill - August 21, 2012 03:57 PM (GMT)
I stand corrected, thank you for illuminating me ;)

Well I am happy since I play Sons of Horus if any legion is going to get the resin pads it is they.

Yeah, but no sign of Luna Wolves.

Guess it must just be Post Davin Heresy.

:(

Brother Handro - August 21, 2012 04:48 PM (GMT)
Post #24 of this thread has pictures of a III Legion LR Spartan painted for this book. Blood Angels in the background too.

Have just thought that 'Betrayal' could just as easily apply to Isstvan V as to Isstvan III so maybe we won't get intra-legion fighting lists, but either way the focus seems to be on EC, WE, DG, and SOH so I'm happy.

Gagoc TheAncient - August 21, 2012 05:51 PM (GMT)
For those who want to see the trailer in a larger format than on the GW Blog, here's it's link on Youtube:

Enjoy!

BigWill - August 21, 2012 08:46 PM (GMT)
Ared the first book is called betrayal and the Lunas fought a few engagements as SoH before Istivan
But hey I agree I always wanted 3 space Marine armies well 2 marine one chaos
The Luna Wolves,Sons of Horus and Black Legion all using the same troops so you watch them corrupt :D

Yvraith - August 21, 2012 09:02 PM (GMT)
They annoying curse of being stuck in PNG with crazy work internet filters.
I can't watch the FW video or the Youtube version as they are "blocked!"

Gah! The frustration! <_<

I still have 3 weeks to go until I'll be able to watch it.....
It will be old news then....

BigWill - August 21, 2012 09:24 PM (GMT)

BigWill - August 21, 2012 09:34 PM (GMT)
The last shot looks like the reflection of Abaddon in the lenses of a SoH.

Looking at the new paints seems SoH are Sybarite Green what the hell is a Sybarite anway just rebrand it SoH green and be done with it :P

Shroud? would it be against NDA to say what color they painted the studio SoH with?
If so how bout after release?

Maybe ya better not that could throw a giant wrench in my terrain project :P
Inquisitions days are numbered for sure,at least for a while ;)

Yes, as I own a few of them myself including both Badab books and the latest book Doom of Mymera. I believe Rayziel has an entire library of them!

The artwork is outstanding and I enjoy the fluff that Forge World produces for the Imperial Armour books. I would recommend purchasing them to anybody.

Yvraith - August 21, 2012 09:53 PM (GMT)
Thanks Ilmarien, although I could only see the World Eaters Contemptor.
I appreciate the effort.
Maybe if I reload the page a few times the other pics will show up for me. :D

I can see all my spending money going towards FW HH products for the foreseeable future....

Yes Shroud, I even still have the original soft cover IA books that are outdated. When they updated them & started with campaign style books I stopped, as all I saw was a huge price jump.
However after King Fluff showed me the newer Hard cover style & artwork when I was over for the Ullanor Campaign closing weekend, I decided then & there that they are well worth shelling out for, I haven't regretted it since. ;)

Brother Handro - August 21, 2012 09:54 PM (GMT)
Sybarite Green? That's what I used for my SOH test model! It's lovely! :) How will they get it metallic I wonder?...

My first guess about the guy in the reflection was Abaddon. But then I heard a rumour that it is actually Angron. Could be wishful thinking as we still don't know whether we'll actually get primarchs or not. But if the World Eaters are in the first book and it's Isstvan III not/and V...and Angron did go down to the surface himself to finish things....

As for FW books, I've read the Siege of Vraks and Badab books, the only one I own is Masterclass Vol. I.

Markus Krell - August 21, 2012 10:01 PM (GMT)
After a ****y day at work, what a lovely bit of news to come home to. :o

As I can't make this year's GD, and I'm sure I speak for everyone else who can't attend... as soon as the doors open, we'll need photos of everything please!!

Aquila - August 21, 2012 10:07 PM (GMT)
Yvraith, don't read on if you don't want to be spoilered. I'll try to describe it for you:

The Trailer opens with the Forge World logo.

We're shown a stack of skeletons through thick contaminated air. (My guess would be that's Istvaan III just after the virus bombing.)

Line by line this text is blending in:

"Death is all around us now
The death of the body
The death of the spirit
But most of all, the death of hope"

The text is fading and only the last "death" remains, turning red while the background is turning black.

Now the red "death" is replaced by the Eye of Horus, followed by a battle scene starring a Contemptor Dreadnough (possibly EC) and a Reaver Battle Titan.
The music is pacing up when while a map of the galaxy with the Segmentum Solar at it's centre is shown.

Following the galaxy map is a picture of countless drop pods descending through the clouds of an unknown world (maybe Istvaan III).

After that a few marines, the way they are usually displayed in the IA books.
First is an Emperor's Children in Iron armour. He bears the Eye of Horus and a transverse helmet crest but no Imperial Eagle and looks battle worn (his face plate has taken a hit).
Following the EC is a Son of Horus with a top-knot on his helmet and killing marks on his breast plate. He's wearing a set of mixed armour marks (Mk. 5/7 helmet).
After him comes a World Eaters Contemptor armed with 2 assault cannons.

Then we get to see another battle scene, starting with a Death Guard Deimos pattern Predator
Executioner. Zooming out to the top right reveals 8 DG marines (most of them in Mk.4 - no special upgrade parts discernible, just the FW armour sets), another Reaver Titan and (cut off by the edge of the image) a Land Raider.

Finally the last battle scene shows a Contemptor (possibly World Eater) storming towards a Sons of Horus Land Raider in front of a hellish/burning battlefield while Thunderhawk Transporters (SoH) are flying above.

The screen is black again and the Eye reappears, now burning.

"THE HORUS HERESY
BOOK I
'BETRAYAL'

UK Games Day 2012"

The Trailer finishes with a close up view of the (Mk. 3) faceplate of a green armoured Astartes. Visible as a reflection in the lenses is what could or could not turn out to be a FW Angron model.

EDIT: Damn it, I'm slow. Ilmarinen beat me to it and actually did a better job with pictures and all....

Ilmarinen - August 21, 2012 10:11 PM (GMT)
Huh, forgot this one:

I can see all my pics ok, but they're linked from FB, so I don't know if everyone can see them.

Yep.

I have a full set.

Like any of you are surprised at that!

BigWill - August 21, 2012 10:21 PM (GMT)
Looking close it seems the reflection are Cataphratti looks like Justaerin.
It appears to be two different people one in each visor.
I see a topknot on top

Ilmarinen - August 21, 2012 10:26 PM (GMT)
Nope. I'm certain it's Angron.

It's the same guy in both lenses, just distorted by reflections. The left lens image looks like a topknot, but if you look closer, the upper edge of the helmet eye socket is lower than you think - it cuts across the backpack icon and the bit above is reflection on the helmet.

BigWill - August 21, 2012 10:40 PM (GMT)

BigWill - August 21, 2012 10:50 PM (GMT)
Hey I love being a nerd ;)
But I can appreciate a good football game(both kinds) and love Cars I can never afford.

Ya know something was bothering me about that World Eater Dred.
No CC weapon how is he going to take skulls? :P

Arden Fell - August 21, 2012 10:55 PM (GMT)
WE contemptor firing on SoH land raider whilst a city burns in the background?

It has to be Isstvan, doesn't it?

Not sure about the Angron reflection; my thoughts are still black terminator plate with top knot. Too plain to be a Primarch.

Ilmarinen - August 21, 2012 11:01 PM (GMT)
@BigWill - easy, he stomps on everything but the head!

@Arden Fell - it's not a topknot. The right lens shows that the backpack icon is round and spiky. And you can't see any of the detail of his armour (deliberately I suspect).

Now I know it's DEFINITELY Angron - you can see the red triangle on his head!

BigWill - August 21, 2012 11:10 PM (GMT)
Round and Spiky like the cover of Weakness of Others.
Ilmarinen I like the way you think Sir,well done

Oh Man If I get a second job, when the hell am I going to paint this stuff.
Do you think it hurts in the but
