Title: GD UK 2012.
Description: The year for Horus Heresy?

Gagoc TheAncient - August 5, 2012 04:41 PM (GMT)
I thought I'd start this thread now, to collect news rumours and eventually reports from those who will be there.

First up, I'd just like to say I am going but I doubt I'll be seeing any of the seminars.

Now it has been intimated that FW's Horus Heresy book will at least be debuted at GD UK.
So hopefully we will be able to fill up any reports with news from that.

But there is always a chance, no matter how slim, that it may have more than a debut.

So, anybody else going please sound-off. And if you are attending any seminars please let us know as those not attending may be able to suggest some interesting questions to ask.

Thank you.

Well the Teaser said "BOOK I AUTUMN 2012" and the GD is in autumn.

ShroudFilm - August 6, 2012 08:08 AM (GMT)
I'll be there, but obviously I'll be shepherding authors.

Plus, I already know the truth/falsehood behind all the various rumours. :D

Pacific - August 6, 2012 09:34 AM (GMT)
Well Shroud, you know if you ever need to offload some of that terrible pressure of keeping onto all of those rumours, you will find willing recipients here.. :D

Can you confirm or deny for instance that next April (the 1st in fact) will see the release by Forge World of an Emperor on Golden 'Throne' model, to come alongside the representation of the Emperor's Palace modelled entirely to scale in resin? (it just about fits in the car-park outside Warhammer World when assembled..)

BigWill - August 6, 2012 04:02 PM (GMT)
Ooo ooo I call Dibs on the Palace, none of you guys are fast enough to paint that much resin.
Me however can probally have it finished inside of two days :D

Don't worry Laurie, it's not at all miserably, painfully, soul-crushingly obvious that you revel in taunting us like this... nope, no sir-ee.

Gagoc TheAncient - August 9, 2012 07:46 PM (GMT)
Sometimes I wonder if he just says that to encourage speculation, the best of which he turns over to the guys at FW and BL.

You never know. He could be 'Datamining' us!

Lord Commander Lucius - August 19, 2012 08:55 PM (GMT)
As of today i'll be going, finally managed to hunt down a ticket. So much FW and BL to buy :D

Mortarion - August 20, 2012 11:02 AM (GMT)
Ill be there too, one of the guys at my local store rang around and managed to get me and the missus tickets :)

I think its about 5 years since I've been to games day

Ilmarinen - August 20, 2012 01:11 PM (GMT)
I'm going ...and I'm bringing Dargor!!! BRING IT ON!!! :D

There's gonna be tons of balls out excitement!

See you all there. :)

BigWill - August 20, 2012 02:19 PM (GMT)
Dammit,if I was not buying a ring,Me and my Mashed Potatoes would be on the first flight out.

All kidding aside,I am planning on going to the UK in the next couple of years.
What would you guys say is the years cannot miss event?
GD or BL Weekender.
Or should I just wait until Shrouds coronation :D

Vinnie - August 20, 2012 04:22 PM (GMT)
I'd have said BL Weekender would probably be the more special occasion... a few more die-hard fans, a few less screaming children <_< But the best event to attend in my opinion is both of them!

On-topic, I am going. And I am bringing a mate (hopefully two) who are HH fans :P

White Wolf - August 20, 2012 04:34 PM (GMT)
I will be there and look forward to catching up with, and meeting some of you.

Games Day, you will just pay for the privilege of shoving your way through thousands of kids (some of which are massive and not easily shoved) to then stand and queue for hours to buy anything at full price. The only thing that might make it worth while are some of the FW new releases, and seeing the Golden Daemon entries. And of course these days you won't get nowt officially from GW about new releases.

If I were you and you want some kind of gaming 'pilgrimage' I would recommend:
- Trip to Warhammer World either off-peak, or perhaps to coincide with some kind of event. Perhaps a TGC one in the future? ;)
- The BL weekender.
- The Salute gaming show. By all accounts one of the best wargaming shows in the world, and if you only go to one that has to be it in my view.

++EDIT++ Just realised I posted that in a Games Day thread and it might seem overly negative. But I reserve the right to be a miserable git and only see things through the eyes of a jaded wargaming veteran :D

Ilmarinen - August 20, 2012 09:30 PM (GMT)
GD does have a few drawbacks (like the really irritating WAAAAGHs that go off repeatedly, inevitably concluded each time by the squeaky kid with the high-pitched voice!) and the queues.

However, what makes GD a really brilliant experience is meeting up with a bunch of awesome people (like fellow TGCers) who you can hang out with all day. :)

This year there seem to be extra numbers of us going, which will be amazing!

BigWill - August 20, 2012 09:39 PM (GMT)
A TGC event would rock by the time I get to do it.the final books should of been out for a little bit.
I just need to find something to divert my girl.
Besides Warhammer is there a ton of Robin Hood stuff at Nottingham?
If it was the USA they would make it a theme park and make everyone wear those awful Errol Flynn green elf suits
But a Robin Hood attraction might work, then again so does the minibar :D

Yvraith - August 21, 2012 04:34 AM (GMT)
You can easily spend a day wandering about looking at interesting historical things.

Errol Flynn the most famous Tasmanian (except maybe the WB Taz Devil, but he doesn't count) in the world, even if no-one really knows that is where he is from.

And before anyone asks how I know this random fact, it's because I too am from there.... and for the Cricket lovers amongst us, so is Ricky Ponting, David Boon & Max Walker....

BigWill - August 21, 2012 10:53 AM (GMT)
I did not know that,Hmmmm

Gagoc TheAncient - September 7, 2012 03:47 PM (GMT)
Rumours have started to fly around that FW will be taking a limited number of Horus Heresy: Betrayal to GD UK for sale.

I can't find any official news backing this up though.

BigWill - September 7, 2012 05:12 PM (GMT)
Nothing offical but I thought GD usually has things a month early.
Might just be just BL who does that though

Pacific - September 7, 2012 06:48 PM (GMT)
Is that the rumour from the other thread right (the one with the chap who's been discredited for a lot of other stuff?)

Although.. I would rather wait a month to be honest. I would have to have it presented to me by a naked porn star, dipped in maple syrup, to convince me to go to Games Day. Although I realist the chance of that particular set of circumstances happening is quite slim..

The most recent video trailer that they put up clearly states "UK Games Day 2012" at the end.

There is a completely different convention for that.
It is held in Las Vegas every year.
Last year it cost Charlie Sheen his job :D

Any way we can get a table going for that event ;)

Yes, but on this site we didn't automatically take that to mean the book would be on sale.
Just that it would at least be debuted at GD UK.

Until there is official confirmation, or you say so Shroud, I can't assume that copies will be on sale.
I can hope it will be, just not assume it.

ShroudFilm - September 9, 2012 10:22 AM (GMT)
I'm not going to say anything - it's not part of Black Library, after all. I'm just looking through the older Forge World videos etc and I can't find any instance where a date was given that was just "more info available on this date"...

Gagoc TheAncient - September 9, 2012 06:51 PM (GMT)
So I guess there's no chance of us convincing/bribing you, Shroud, into getting some copies reserved for TGCers to pickup at GD!

Pity!

Pacific - September 11, 2012 11:01 AM (GMT)
You'd have to put money on them being on sale there. But, with no idea of quantity if you really want one (and I can see this being one of the main pulls of GD) I would get there as soon as you can, and head straight to that FW sales area.
