Title: Garro: Sword of Truth

Deraj - August 2, 2012 04:49 PM (GMT)
Today black library updated their facebook cover picture to Garro: download the latest installment this friday. Does that really mean we'll be getting it 4-5 months early?

QUOTE

Nathaniel Garro, knight errant and agent of the Sigillite, returns from the battlefields of Calth to find a new mission already waiting for him – a ragged fleet of Space Marines from several Legions lingers at the edge of the Terran system. With the presence of World Eaters and Emperor’s Children causing concern among the loyalist defenders and drawing a grim parallel with his own frantic flight, Garro must look beneath the obvious if he is to determine friend from foe...

Also... Since we know the world eater he got after calth was on istvaan 3....

BigWill - August 2, 2012 07:34 PM (GMT)
Bet this is what Rylanor was hiding,Pralls transport

ShroudFilm - August 2, 2012 08:36 PM (GMT)
Ha, that's weird... I just wrote a new blurb for that on Monday. Guess it hasn't made it through to the new cover yet!

BigWill - August 3, 2012 04:55 AM (GMT)
What blurb? don't tell me I picked two in a day :D
Might be time to change my title from Sigillte to Oracle

Deraj - August 3, 2012 09:02 AM (GMT)
Grey Angel by John French. I thought Jim Swallow had a hold on these, so that's interesting.

So... without spoiling things: 35 minutes long, it starts out with 2 people, and within the first 5 minutes I was surprised twice.

ShroudFilm - August 3, 2012 09:53 AM (GMT)
Hmmm... bit of a cock-up there... this isn't a Garro story.

http://www.blacklibrary.com/horus-heresy/grey-angel-mp3.html

It's not the product I thought it was, for release today.

Yes, James Swallow writes Garro. This isn't Garro.

Dargor - August 3, 2012 09:54 AM (GMT)
TARVITZ BETTER BE ON THAT PIMP RIDE RYLANOR WAS GUARDING OR ELSE.

Ahem.

I enjoyed Grey Angel immensely and i recommend it to all. Also, Sword of Truth can't come soon enough.

Cheers!

Markus Krell - August 3, 2012 11:10 AM (GMT)
Silly question. Is Grey Angel only in MP3 format or will it be released as a CD?

BigWill - August 3, 2012 04:12 PM (GMT)
Just downloaded Grey Angel it was very good and if you can read between lines very telling on a Character people have wondered about for years.

Is it Lodge secret who that is on the cover with Garro?

ShroudFilm - August 3, 2012 05:18 PM (GMT)
Who is the main character in 'Grey Angel'? ;)

Deraj - August 3, 2012 05:42 PM (GMT)
The one thing I'm not liking between this and the Primarchs book is that... now we know 100% who is on what side, who's in the right, who's in the wrong. Especially if the old friend is who I think it is...

BigWill - August 3, 2012 05:48 PM (GMT)
New duds then.
Makes sense.

ahriman - August 3, 2012 05:58 PM (GMT)
Everyone's being very cryptic and its annoyingly intriguing.

Unfortunately I can't justify spending £6.50 on a 35 min audiodrama. Seems I'm going to have to wait...

Markus Krell - August 5, 2012 08:45 PM (GMT)
Shroud: Is the answer "Qurze", as he's the only one to still calling himself a Luna Wolf, isn't he? Still haven't finished Outcast Dead.

Judging by the free sample; is the interrogator something to do with... the Inquisition? dum dum dum!!! :o ... No!! Okay, I'll get my coat! ;)

ShroudFilm - August 6, 2012 08:11 AM (GMT)
There are three 'Luna Wolves' that we know of:

Severian, 'the Lone Wolf'
Iacton Qruze
Garviel Loken

Arden Fell - August 6, 2012 08:38 AM (GMT)
Having just listened to the clip and as I'm now at work and can't download the full thing, I take it that Grey Angel comes between Legion of One and Sword of Truth and concern's Cerberus (not trying to give anything away)?

If so I can't wait to get home tonight to download it. :D

If this the start of a series for him or is it just a one off?

ShroudFilm - August 6, 2012 06:20 PM (GMT)
'Sword of Truth' comes after 'Oath of Moment', but about ten months before 'Legion of One'. These stories aren't chronological in any way...

A shiny penny for anyone who can put every single HH product in chronological order!

I call Shinanigins on you.
There is one thing I excell at,and that is getting my Brother to do a chore my Parents asked me to do.

This seems awfully like a project someone gave to you Mr.Tom Sawyer

Arden Fell - August 6, 2012 06:40 PM (GMT)
WHY!!!!!!???????

Why can't you guy's ever do a story in order? But I take it that Grey.... oh hell, I'm just gonna go buy it.

Hush now. Here's some whitewash.

Arden Fell - August 6, 2012 08:36 PM (GMT)
:o

Hey!

Hiding in wait and shooting people in the eyes was my idea. Just cos Grim did it instead of him last time, doesn't mean He can just go around doing it to everyone else! :(

Awesome story though. Going to listen to it again. :D

BigWill - August 6, 2012 10:36 PM (GMT)

so where does burden of duty fit in to the timeline?

Markus Krell - August 10, 2012 07:10 PM (GMT)
Can we assume that Burden of Duty is before Grey Angel chronologically? Maybe its about the collective marines and how do they handle hunting their former kin and the enormity of what has happened?

Is that Loken next to Garro on the cover 'cos that it an impressive stance and growl?!!

ShroudFilm - August 11, 2012 10:40 AM (GMT)
I'm not at liberty to tell you anything which isn't in the public eye already... but...

1) This is a two-story disc
2) Loken is in 'Grey Angel' and Garro isn't
3) That's clearly Garro on the front cover, in his MK6 knight errant armour
4) Therefore, Garro's story ('Burden of Duty') must be set after he gets his MK6
5) Therefore, it must be after 'Oath of Moment'
6) Loken was the last guy Garro went after
7) Therefore, if the story follows the blurb on Amazon (Garro going to Phalanx to recruit a Space Marine) then it must be set before 'Legion of One'

Logical deduction. It's for the win. :D

Markus Krell - August 11, 2012 12:16 PM (GMT)
It's only logical if you know the answer!! ;)

Is Iacton the marine in the prison cell (I know, "you can't say")? Afterall, Garro was given his job by Malcador... so they loyalist that escaped with him could technically be being held prisoner until such time. Plus Iacton is shown on the cover of Legion of One and we've not heard of him since he escaped!!

Forget that, I know who it is... the prisoner is Saul Tarvitz!!! :D

Azkaellon - August 11, 2012 08:37 PM (GMT)
i can see why the authors commented on your note taking skills ;)

BigWill - August 12, 2012 12:24 PM (GMT)
Wait a sec there is two stories on that mp3?
Did grey angel come out first as a single?
I only heard Grey Angel

Ilmarinen - August 12, 2012 12:59 PM (GMT)
They've released the mp3 of Grey Angel. I'm presuming that the second story will come out as a separate mp3. The CD will have both.

BigWill - August 12, 2012 01:14 PM (GMT)
ahhh Tanks alot I go into withdrawls if I do not get my Heresy fix straight away

Oh, I assumed you'd listened to the whole story?

Iacton Qruze was last seen in 'The Last Remembrancer', doing someone else's dirty work... in 'Grey Angel' he is on Caliban, but Loken is the one in the cell.

It's already been alluded to, so I might as well spell it out now - Loken is being interrogated by Luther. Iacton is waiting for Loken to bust out, or else he will go in and get him.

Iacton is one of the Knights Errant. It should be noted that he is yet another of their number who is not a psyker... ;)

The cover of 'Legion of One' shows Loken (AKA Cerberus). Iacton Qruze isn't in it - I think that discussion came about before any of us TGC fans had heard the audio, when the artwork was released... at that time we assumed Loken was dead, and so couldn't be on a disc cover.

Markus Krell - August 12, 2012 05:03 PM (GMT)
I only listened to the sample extract; I prefer to have a physical aspect of the HH collection... plus I'm old fashioned :D

Hmm, why are they on Caliban? Isn't there a fan-favourite Librarian there... hmm.

Loken appears to have become a bad-ass since he 'died' on Istvaan, just think how tough Tarvitz will be when he's resurrected!!

I forgot we'd sorted out who was on Legion of One; he just looks not-Loken in that though, plus the Luna Wolves isignia on his chest. I didn't think Loken only had SoH markings.

Arden Fell - August 13, 2012 08:24 AM (GMT)
From Legion of One, Loken had pretty much lost it following the death of all his battle brothers. When Garro goes to find him, he has become Cerberus and trusts no one and tries to kill anything that moves, believing it to be chaos spawn.

That is a bit of a cock up though, that he is wearing Luna Wolves armour on the cover, all-be-it with scratched out insignia. As Qruze was the only one mentioned to have changed back to LW whites after Flight of Eisenstein. I doubt that Loken would have been allowed to change armour colour before Isstvan as he was still flying with the rest of the Legion.

Although if I recall correctly he does refer to the loyalists as Luna Wolves during the battle to seperate the two factions.

Also a bit miffed that I go and buy the mp3 only to find out that a cd two story is released the next week.

You guys know every time you say Tavis is Alive Shroud has litterary demons that desacrate his soul even more.
Be careful what you wish for or he will be a Demon Prince's equerry.

But if you guys pull some Obi-Wan crap I am coming to Nottingham and handcuffing myself to Shroud or Nick until they fix it.
And I am eating bushes baked beans and Garlic the entire flight over

Markus Krell - August 13, 2012 07:02 PM (GMT)
Big Will: I don't mind the fact that Tarvitz died, I think most people feel disappointed that it was dealt with so quickly in the book.
An e-book depicting the last few moments of their resistance with more depth would be good, as each marine is killed one-by-one and the survivors stand ready for the nuclear bombing. [and fade to black]

A bit like Horus' fall to chaos; too quick and I'm sure in hindsight BL would have spent a bit longer on it. Again, an e-book following Horus while in his state of transition with Erebus would be nice. Seeing Horus struggle to fight the temptations etc. and then finally succumbing to them...

BigWill - August 13, 2012 07:07 PM (GMT)
So when does Burden of Duty come to mp3?
The last stand of Tarvis's 100 could be a great story or a very short one the Dies Irae was at thier doorstep ;)

Tarvitz never died on Istvaan III. Though he will be coming back i think. Tarvitz had moved his men clear across the city from where the Traitors thought they would be, in to a church. Something in the church saved them. Their faith or maybe some shield built into the building. Maybe even the fact that they moved caused the bombardment to miss.

Nothing ever said Loken discarded his love for the Luna Wolves. And if you want to know if Loken is on the cover just look for the weapons being held. Loken uses a Bolt-gun and Chain-sword. If the guy on the cover uses theses weapons there is a good chance it is him. I understand that EVERY Astartes has access to this wargear load out. For Captains, only in Loken do we see a concerted effort to show that this is ALL he uses.

The Armour Loken wears on the cover of Legion of one is not that of the Luna Wolves. It is a Sons of Horus colored and marked suit with some Luna Wolves icons/ badges. The scratches on the badges and Armour as a whole is due to the war that happened on Istvaan III, or the years after fighting daemons every day. You can clearly see the Eye of Horus on his shoulder guard. ( http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&client=...:91&tx=71&ty=87 ) The bolterandchainsword is a dead give away as i said above.

This is a picture of Cerberus on Istvaan III as Garro would have seen him. I don't see it as weird that a warrior might honer the old traditions of his Legion.
