Title: The War Hounds?
Antti - January 23, 2012 01:41 AM (GMT)
|The XII Space Marine Legion was active in the Great Crusade for several decades before its Primarch Angron was rediscovered and during that time was known as the War Hounds, a name that had been chosen by the Emperor after he saw the XII Legion fight in the Cephic hive-sprawls and they reminded him of the white war hounds the Yeshk warriors in the north used.|
Warhammer40k.wikia.com is where this little tid-bit is sourced from. I was wondering if we knew who the Yeshk people are, according to Pre-Unification history

No - does the Wiki cite its source? That's the the first I've ever heard of this...

|'[...]And when the worms came out to fight us, they met the Emperor and his War Hounds.’|
‘You’re speaking of yourself,’ said Angron.
‘Yourselves.’ Kharn nodded. ‘The War Hounds. XII Legion Astartes. Made in your image, as your warriors, primarch. He saw us fight in the Cephic hive-sprawls and named us for the white hounds the Yeshk warriors in the north used. He did us an honour with the name, primarch. We are proud of it, and we hope you will be too.’
Angron gave a growl, but he did not speak. The hand that had been a fist had opened again.
Pages 292–293 of Tales of Heresy, my emphasis. As an aside, spectral/fae hounds legends are common across England and Wales. Devon in particular has the wish hounds, also known as yell hounds and... 'Yesh Hounds'. B)

You must have a photographic memory or something Apologist. How do you answer every question so quickly with sources and real-life references?

All class IV autodidacts receive a mem-card expansion (probably has something to do with a search function on my phone's built-in ebook reader, too) :)
Either way, happy to help!
