Title: Asterion's Revenge
Description: Grim's Past Returns

Arden Fell - October 1, 2011 10:24 AM (GMT)
'He had fallen.

He had seen the sniper at the last and opened himself up for the kill shot. The fool.

Then the cowards had taken his head. Uncontrollable rage flared through his being.

"I shall have my revenge my Lords. Give me the chance and I will bath you in their blood."

The corporeal form knelt before the Horned One.

"So be it."

The ghostly form of the slain Primarch shimmered and twisted and Asterion grimaced in pain as his skull bubbled and split, changing his face to that of his idol.

His already massive frame bulged with more and more muscle.

As he finally cried out in his pain, the human sound deepened and changed into the bellow of a raging bull.

The minotaur that took his place, bowed before his masters.

Asterion was reborn.'

Okay that done and dusted, here is the form so far:

I'll develope this more over time but for now it gives me a goal for the modifications.

First up is the base for Asterion -

I may GS up the legs a little to give the impression of armour but I've not decided yet.

He's a good size for a Primarch/Chaos Demi-god I think and will stand out amongst the rest of his army.

Next is Ankoze's Squad of Minotaurs in half armour.

Thi pic shows the progression from Beastman Gor to Minotaur in Armour.

I've tried to keep it to a style similar to MkIII. C&C?

These guys are smaller in stature than their Primarch but will stand well alongside the converted SW's of the other companies I think.

There is a nice sorceress which I'm lookingg at for Pythia, but I have a couple of nice ides for her which will have to wait a little while till I can clear some desk space.

That's all for now.

P.S. I'm still curious if anyone knows if the Codex is about to change soon. I'm sure someone must have an idea about if it's on the cards or not?

Talk about just not knowing what is going on.

With Forgeworlds latest newsletter I not with some interest the release of Minotaur chapter doors fro the Rhino kit.

'What the f***?' I think to myself.

Then I have a quick look on Lexicanum and realise that there is a whole speil about them.

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Minotaurs

"Sassafrassinrassin!" I say to myself and then read the blurb.

Looks like I'm still okay for putting out a PH/Chaos squad, as the chapter is mentioned as being founded in 36M as part of the 21st founding, from an unknown legion. So it might be concievable that there was some form of this chapter earlier, or geneseed kicking about from earlier.

Like the description of them as well as an ill formed legion with a preference for close combat and assault fighting.

Also like the fact that the information about them is highly classified and even the Inquisition do not have access to the full story.

Could the new Minotaurs have been formed from the genetic code of one of the missing Primarchs in an effort to improve on the bad stock that caused the expulsion of the original chapter?

Afterall someone did contact Fabius Bile...

so what are you planning on doing with the Minotaur chapter?

The models look sweet, especially the mk3 ish minotaurs!

Nice side from our legion :)

I hope you do alot more with the dark side :D

We will have to discuss the name lol Maybe call them Death Dealers after heresy? as they are khorne like arent they?

Arden Fell - November 9, 2011 12:01 PM (GMT)
I think that as the 2nd and 11th Legions are completely removed from the records it would be unlikely they would re-introduce the Legion at the 21st Founding as the Minotaurs again.

Therefore I think that PH we can still call them the Death Dealers (for both Imp & Chaos).

The fluff on Lexicanum gives the new legion a bit of a beserker / nut case feel to the genetically faulty new legion.

We can take that basic instability back to our missing legion. It didnt develope as a result of the 21st Founding tweaks, it was always there and they couldn't get rid of it.

Legion wise I've been doing my usual of starting one project and jumping around not finishing it.

So far I have Asterion in Minotaur guise (post chaos/assassination) about 80% painted.

[pic to follow tonight]

I also have 5 Beastmen Gor converted to half minotaur/half MK3(ish) armour.

I'm not moving as fast on this project as I'm waiting to see if the new Codex comes along anytime soon.

Also I'm painting a set of Puppet Wars Mini's to get away from the black and white paint jobs I've been doing of late.

Michaelangelos - November 11, 2011 06:51 PM (GMT)
so your are saying that the minotaurs are from the geneseed of our lost legion?

Arden Fell - November 12, 2011 01:42 PM (GMT)
Yup.

What I'm proposing is this little Post Heresy fluff.

The cursed founding appears to have been an attempt by the Administratum to tweak the work of the Emperor and as such the remains of the existing gene stock to improve on the astartes and create a being more reliable and powerful than the original genecode.

What if they had access to the geneseed patterns from all 20 primarchs and used it to try and create unflawed legions? To remove the weaknesses and traits that turned half the primatchs to Chaos.

Obviously it failed.

But the Minotaurs created at that time, which resurfaced during the the Badab Wars, were created using the original Death Dealers / Asterion gene pattern.

It give the death dealers a path to 40k and a link to the past.

Oh yeah,

Here's Asterion...

Not keen on the four arms look but damn I wish I'd seen this before getting the AoW minotaur now.

That would make a huge Chaos Lord type figure. I can see him striding through an army of astartes just crushing skulls.

Damn I wish they would hurry up with the new CSM Codex so I can get a better idea of how to format this army.

Arden Fell - November 25, 2011 09:20 AM (GMT)
AND it's one eyed too!!!!!!!!!

Might have to buy him anyway now.

Get some more minotaurs as his honour gaurd (counts as CC Termi's type thing).

The converted Gors will then be Ankole's squad of tacticals.

Damn.

More expense before Chrimbo. :(
