Title: Arden's Artworks
Description: Sketches from my workbook

Seeing the spate of creativity on the site this weekend, I've decided to expand on my fluff repetiour with the thoughts that eventually enter the writing phase.

For example,

This is the sketch for Kelus being ambushed.

I love doing these wireframe sketches, but get infuriated that I can never develop them to a finished article. My lack of talent annoys me at times.

Sadly I'm oldschool, working with HB pencil, 0.3 drawing pens and cartridge paper. If I could find a way to draw on the pc without mouse or crappy expensive stylus set ups I'd probably be able to finish one. After a while the paper gets too dirty and the line works smudged so I abandon them. :(

Anyway I'll add more as time goes on. I may even post some of the failed finished works, if Im not totally ashamed of them.

First off great pose
Second if you can go to the bookstore and pick up a copy of
"Human Anatomy made Amazingly easy by Christoper Hart it is the hands down best book for getting the human form dowm correctly.
should be around $20
Third you are right there keep practicing, from stick figure make that into squares and spheres, and cylinders, and those forms translate into you guess it Astartes Plate.
Also draw everything in the stickfigure stage even body parts that are hidden,it help with keeping the form uniform.
And practice,practice,practice.

Bigwill- I have a battered copy of Marvels how to draw the Marvel way which is great for posses and covers the whole shapes thing.

Problem I have is with shading. It always ends up too black.

It's an issue I've had since Art at school. And it's only made worse by the way I draw in pencil.

There are ways round it such as tracing and scanning into some art package as a background layer and over layering it but 1) I don't always have access to a light box for pen work 2) I hate drawing with a mouse 3) I can't afford indecent graphic tablet.

Just downloaded Autosketch for the iPhone though and it seems quite promising, if only A tad too small to effectively work on. Might have to steel my mums iPad for a while.

The marvel book was my first artbook, one of my all time favs.
But this book is different,it shows just anatomy which is essential.
It actually is written in the same style so check it out.
There are pages where to shade majoe muscle groups.
Shading is always tough, took me a couple years to get right.
Think of it like painting minis keeping light source in mind.
And do not get discouraged look at my Abaddon pic ,when I drew it I thought it was great but I can barely look at it now.
I drew the Abaddon siege pic a couple a weeks ago, watch how much better it looks when I redo it.
