Title: Custodian Guard
Description: 7 steps to Terra!

Angels_Blade - October 13, 2010 09:59 PM (GMT)
Hey, Here's a little tutorial of how I made my Custodians

Sorry about poor pics and even poorer discription

STEP 1
The parts

user posted image

These are what you'll need, You can choose different pads legs etc

STEP 2

user posted image

Assemble the legs and torso taking care to remove the guide for the backpack (you will need it flat.

STEP 3

user posted image

Take the Deathmask and smoke launcher. Cut the face off the front and back leaving the semicircle and pretty pattern. Slice the smoke launchers from the main part and file it flat.

Glue to the back of the torso as pictured

STEP 5
The Head.
Now the Scibor heads are nice but a pain in the arse. You have to cut out a triangle between the hair and helmet to make it fit. Use a sharp scalpel. You'll also play around with the positioning and depending on which head you use you may need to trim the face plate or use a blob of greenstuff.

STEP 6
The Guardian Spear
Lay out your bits and get ready to start cutting and pinning

You need to remove the axe head from the Glaive and about 1cm from the end of the high elf axe. Trip the boltgun and grey knight spear as pictured

Pin all the buggers together and try to get them straight

STEP 7

Glue the arm and pads and voila! One kick ass Custodian!

Is there any chance you could name where each of those pieces came from, in terms of box sets? I recognize some of these, but most I do not. And what in Christ is a Scribor head?

DaemonlordAbraxes - October 16, 2010 07:06 AM (GMT)
By "Scibor Head," AB i referring to the place where he got the resin head, Scibor's Monstrous Miniatures

EDIT: Bits list:
  • Head:Scibor
  • Pointing arm and Master-Crafted Boltgun: Command Squad set
  • Pads: Left- Command squad, Right: Sanguinary guard
  • Legs: Death Company
  • Sang. Guard Head, axe and Front chest piece: Sanguinary Guard
  • Halberd thing: Some form of High Elf halberd bit

To be more precise on the heads for Apollo, the heads are these

http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=931

And the high elf weapons are either from the pheonix guard or the white lions kit... not sure though...

Another option for the halberds are these... May be easier since you don't need to go hunting through 3 kits... however im not sure on thier size...

Nice tutorial though... More ideas for when i get started on my gaurd... (Ill be borrowing some ideas however im not too keen on the sanguinary guard torsos...)

Thank you all very much! This will make this process a tad easier for me, but not for my pocketbook. :P I will have to take a chance and try those glaives, as buying an entire box set for just a few of those seems... silly to say the least.

DaemonlordAbraxes - October 17, 2010 04:13 AM (GMT)
Apollodas, eBay is your friend

The Sigillite - October 19, 2010 05:38 AM (GMT)
Hmmm question for ya'll, i have yet to buy a marine vehicle (aside from dreads and drop pods but are the smoke launchers on land raiders and rhinos the same size?

Angels_Blade - October 19, 2010 10:05 PM (GMT)
the smoke launchers are the same size and nemesis force weapons are available as a bits pack from gw

The Sigillite - November 2, 2010 04:25 AM (GMT)
Hmm, i was looking around and noticed that thunder hammer are very similar to the axe glaives you find in the sanguinary guard box (In terms of what parts you use for the custodes) ... Could be a good substitute.

Angels_Blade - November 2, 2010 08:05 AM (GMT)
I tried that first but the power cables and chunky terminator fists are too large and don't look right

Hey Angels_Blade, how hard was it to remove the bolters from the Sanguinary Guard arms? They look molded on pretty heavily.

It's been said, 9 posts above this one, that the pointing arm is from the Command Squad box, and not the Sang Guard box. ^_^

Great tut Angels_Blade, cheers :) Will most probably be using it too!

Now now boys... It's ok I removed the bulk of it with clippers then used a sharp scalpel to slice the rest away before using a fine rounded file.

lord_caldera - November 19, 2010 03:46 PM (GMT)
Thanks Angels Blade.

Sewer Rat sorry if my post came off as rude. I just noticed AB didn't post any of the others in this article so you may not have seen them.

Angels_Blade - November 22, 2010 06:19 PM (GMT)
