Title: Megarachnids ?
Michaelangelos - September 1, 2010 11:56 PM (GMT)
i had this theory where i can get a pre heresy race and bring them to 40k and use the tyranid rules
the most suitable for my liking is to make Megarachnids from the goblin spider riders set beecause it says:
The Megarachnids are a fearsome and violent Xenos race, resembling giant spiders and winged insects.
so this shows that a majority where spiders
so im just toying with ideas but i have a couple of questions:
do i change the postion of the spiders?
for using units that resemble carnifex.should i use machines?

There's rumour of a new giant (huge) spider model for Orcs & Goblins - think Stegadon or bigger. Worth waiting to see if that's usable!

Megarachnids aren't just spiders... there are quite detailed descriptions in 'Horus Rising', which I posted in my own conversion thread for the model I made:http://z15.invisionfree.com/The_Great_Crus...?showtopic=1944

hey thanks shroud
just started reading the book now
i cant do mine like yours as your Starship Troopers 'Assassin Bug' is no longer available so i think ill have to dwell at using and converting spiders for main troops.maybe extend some of the limbs or make them look more sharper

I really do hope it will come out in the coming weeks, it has just been cast and Ed (the guy running Troll Forged Miniatures) mentioned it was as good as ready to go.
As for the creature's size:

Me personally when I think of Megrachnids
I think of a off shoot or relative of the (Now adays(40k))
Tyranids when I was listeniing to The Horus rising audio as well as reading
about them,The descriptions closely resemble them athough they could be a off branch or relative of the Tyranids. If I was doing them I would
build em that way...specially since they have the same crests on their heads.

Defiance games have just released pictures of a test sculpt for their forthcoming 'Alien wars' game (imagine the Aliens universe minus the Giger license)
Think that would be pretty much perfect for a Megarachnid!

Necr, I know but I have something pertinent.
This was the winner of Armies On Parade 40K (the only entry actually) 2011, in my local GW. It never went to GD UK, but it is good.
It's inspiration, a certain scene from the Starship Troopers movie.
And here's the pertinent bit. Tyranid-Arachnids:
