I'm taking upon the mantle of Iron Hands come the summer and would like to attempt to make the army uniform through their marks of armour, as the rest of the model will be quite varied.
The artwork on Fulgrim seems to range from 2-5, which doesnt help! This is based at Isstvan, so it makes sense that they have a selection at that stage.
With their strong ties to the mechanicum, would they have been shortlisted for new marks of armour before other legions? I know the traitors tended to get Mk 5 first, but prior to Horus' meddling, would it be different?
Perhaps I should just go all industrial and convert them all to Mark III?
I think you could play it either way, but full Mk. III would look awesome. :)
Indeed, an army of Mk. III would be Uber (Sorry, too lazy to get the umlauts[sp?]!) cool! Plus, it would make sense, since right before Isstvan, they were fighting those Humans with Xenos on ships, and since Mk. III is supposed to have stronger armor in the front, it would make sense since they would be fighting through close encounters in a ship.
Sorry for the semi-ramble.
But due to their technical proficiency they would probably still have a higher percentage of Mark 2's than most Legions.
Personally I'd have Mk 3 for assault squads, possibly even tactical, Mark 4 for Veterans, and Marks 2-4 for the officers and heroic figures.
