Title: Chainaxes or Thunder Hammers?
Description: Which is best for WE assault Terminators

Gagoc TheAncient - February 22, 2010 06:22 PM (GMT)
I'm making a squad of World Eater Assault Terminators, but I'm wondering whether to just give them Thunder Hammers or if I should convert the weapons to Chainaxes?

So what do you think is truer to the WE, Thunder Hammers or Chainaxes?

crude, brutal....always using chain weapons or axes...go for the big chainaxe or energy axe way.

I dont like Preheresy or even normal World Eaters without chain weapons...so maybe even a chainglaive like Angrons first before he changes to two chain axes...

Chain axes for sure.

The legion is rather famous for them.
Two handed ones would look pretty sweet.

Chain axes, depending on codex they can be what you want - most suitably power weapons (C:CSM). I made mine by taking thunder hammers, cutting the hammer bit off and pinning berzerker chain axes to them, makes them look mean. If you need me to I can post pics of the ones I've painted up.

I think that Chain axes are a quintessential feature of the World Eaters-so I'd definately go for that option. You could even use Chain Glaives as well.

But whichever you chose I would personally say that the Thunder Hammers are a definate no-no. ;)

Thanks for the answers guys.

I've gone and done it, mainly using Ork chainaxes. It's five Terminators, so I've done a straight head swap with two Ork chainaxe to Thunder Hammers, a face swap with another two using an Ork chainaxe and two Berzerker chainaxes, and the fifth one I've done as a power weapon using a Black Orc bipennis axe head. I'll post pics when I can.

Dallas Drake, it would be nice to see yours if you've not already posted them.

The girlfriend dropped the camera on a night out, so my ability to take photos has been temporarily buggered. However, I am working on my own PH World Eater Terminators right now so I will endeavor to get pics up around early March.

bipennis

Thank the Throne for google or I'd be making some really innapropriate comments right now...

Also, even though you've already done it, I definitely agree with chainaxes. Nothing says World Eater like a howling, gore-choked chainaxe. xD

What would you guys say the the odd chainaxe in a White Scars assault unit BTW, just to hijack the thread a little :P because I'm severely tempted, but not too sure if they'd fit in :S

It's a good way to distinguish Sergeants from the rest of the squad when they're all armed with Chain Weapons.

Like in this pic, for example.

As you can see there's no pics of the fifth hammer-to-axe conversion for though I have converted the weapon I have yet to build that Terminator.

Very cool - I'm with chainaxes all the way! :D

I made these guys up and never used them in the first AOTE, but I will be doing them again for the event in May...

I'm very happy with them... I will probably end up adding many more to the unit over time to use as Assault termies - chainaxe-counts-as-Thunderhammer with Stormshield, or two-chainaxes-counts-as-lightning-claws!

Amazing those Shroudfilm and Gagoc, really capture the feeling of the World Eaters Legion. Shroudfilm, where are those shields from? They're very nice!

I managed to grab a camera phone & get a few rough snaps, I'm currently painting my arse off (so these are still WIPs) in order to get myself ready for C:BA in April; no better a codex if all is to be believed.

Anyway, examples of my chainaxes - though I doubt the really compare now ;)

1) Argus Brond (Seth)

2) World Eaters Terminator Captain (one-armed).

Enjoy!

PS. I will post this army if people are interested enough :)

ShroudFilm - March 1, 2010 11:12 PM (GMT)
The shields are WFB Ogre belly plates... you can usually trade for them easily or pick them up for a few pennies when the bitz sites have them in! A lot of trimming required to get them mounted snugly on the Stormshield arm though, I can tell you...

I'd love to see more, the stuff here looks very promising.

Is that the new Space Wolves two-handed axe arm set? I've been looking at that for my Berserkers...

shorty - March 2, 2010 06:57 AM (GMT)
It looks like the Space Wolves Double handed Axe with Head removed and Ork Chainweapon in place...Ork Chain weapons are so good at making Pre Heresy Terminator chainweapons....

Yep. SW double handed axe with the axe removed and a Nob massive choppa pinned on top.

They do make very vulgar looking chain weapons :)

I'd quite forgotten about using Ogre belly plates as WE Stormshields. Thanks for reminding me Shroud.

Luckily I'd gotten some in just for this WIP.

Gagoc TheAncient - March 15, 2010 09:33 PM (GMT)
A quick pic update. I've done further work on them thanks to a hefty dose of inspiration from Shroud.

What do you think?

Pacific - March 24, 2010 02:28 AM (GMT)
Those look absolutely fantastic Gagoc! Not something I would like to bump into down a dark alley (or a well-lit alley for that matter!)

Are you going to fit the maxmini shoulder pads to them?

Gagoc TheAncient - March 24, 2010 10:44 PM (GMT)
Pacific; Besides the Maxmini pads I have some I've converted from Ork, Terminator, Chaos Knight, CSM and SM pads as well as some from plastic oildrums.
And as I have parts to make around 30 Terminators, I think I'll spread out the maxmini pads across the three squads I'm planning on making.

So it''l mainly be a case of I'll see what fits.
Thanks for asking, and more pics should be appearing in my Blog in the near future.
