Title: Luna Wolf Info
Description: From the Novels

As a result of everyone talking about their favourite novels,
I decided to go back and reread them all. just for the fun of it! :D

However I've managed to unearth some information that during my previous reads,
I seemed to have missed.

I thought it might be a good idea to share the information with everyone here.

Sergeant rank markings were Chevrons, displayed on their Shoulder Pad. (Horus Rising pg. unknown)
It doesn't say which pad or what type of chevron (American or English styles).

Abbaddon's First Company didn't all wear black armour.
Only the Justaerin and Catulan Reavers appear to have done so.
'the whole of the First Company assembled in full plate as an honour guard. The Astartes formed two unwavering blocks of white figures, rigid and still, their front rows a glossy black line of Justaerin Terminators.' (Horus Rising pg. 360)

It also appears that the Luna Wolves Drop Pods were black.
'Lid doors, like armoured petals, were closing around them, so the drop pods resembled toughened, black seed cases ready for autumn.' (Horus Rising pg. 280)

If I find anything else I'll be sure to post it.

Good catch on the veteran/drop pod colour. :)

QUOTE (Horus Rising @ Page 58)
His eyebrows were black, like the chevron markings on a Luna Wolf shoulder plate.

I would suggest that the chevron markings were a form of squad designation system rather than sergeant markings-as the excerpt suggests that they were common to all Luna Wolves, rather than just sergeants alone.

There is another reference in Horus Rising, but I'm not sure of the page.
That led me to link the two parts of information.
I'll try to find it. ;)

Although that quote leads me to believe that they used the English style of Chevron as opposed to the US style.
