Title: World Eaters Names
Description: Canon references and linguistics
ShroudFilm - March 5, 2009 03:05 AM (GMT)
This thread is intended to collect all canonical references to names within the World Eaters legion, to help you in naming your units and characters etc.
If you know of a canonical reference to a name we missed, please reply to this thread and we will add it in!
From a linguistic point of view, the World Eaters favour a harsh guttural speech pattern, reminiscent of Germanic or Nordic languages. Note the hard vowel syllables used to end names like Gharte [GAR-ter], Wronde [RON-der], and Wrathe [RATH-er]. Note also the predeliction for 'sk' and 'st', and the silent consonants and long vowels to draw out words and make them sound more aggressive.

Can I ask where that bit in bold comes from Shroud? Is it canon, or just an extrapolation of the names we've been presented with so far?
ShroudFilm - March 12, 2009 10:30 AM (GMT)
That's just my analysis, based on the canon material.
Battle Brother Loken - March 12, 2009 01:56 PM (GMT)
you forgot Phil
body guard to Angron himself
Phil once cut through 200,000 orks with nothing but a garden hose
for real thanks for the names because my mind was blown on what to name my WE captain
Lonewolf - April 29, 2009 11:06 AM (GMT)

Can't believe I've only just noticed this last post, nice one Lonewolf been meaning to add those names myself! :)
'Master shellsmith of artillery echelon - Jareg' - world eaters manning basilisk artillery pieces? Surely not (that is something that is going to have to be done!) ^_^ )
Thinking about the other HH books and how they relate to D'eshea, we now know why Angron is accompanied by his 8th company captain!

Updated... did not see Lonewolf's contribution at the time - cheers!

Is there any info on the wargear or more fluff (short description will do) on these characters?
ShroudFilm - May 11, 2010 03:22 PM (GMT)
Not seen anyone coming up with anything like that thus far... might be a nice idea to start looking it up though?
Argus Brond has a power axe. There we go, got it started!
The Red Sorcerer - May 12, 2010 11:16 AM (GMT)
Khan has a plasma pistol and a chainaxe. At some point after the heresy breaks out he is gifted with the chainaxe 'Gorechild' by Angron, one of the Primarch's own weapons.
Skraal has a chainaxe and a combat shield.
There's no info on the weapons any of the War Hounds officers would have used - most of them are already in pieces on the floor in After De'Shea, and those that aren't are unarmed.
EDIT: Ehrlen is armed with a bolter and chainaxe.

Don't forget Skyrax (Skryax? Cant remember..) the Slaughterer, the World Eaters "hero" who killed the Chief Librarian.
These may be a stretch, but here are some canon names of post-Heresy World Eaters Lords who may have been members of the original legion.
-Kosolax (later "The Foresworn")
-Hans Ko'Ren
-"Lord Sk'kaklik" (again, I'm fuzzy on the spelling, plus this name doesn't sound quite right as a PH-World Eater. Kinda daemonic...)
