Title: The Interex
Description: Is anybody doing an army of them?

Uzthizzar, Librarian-Sorceror - March 1, 2009 01:40 PM (GMT)
Is anybody interested in doing an Interex army as a joint effort?
Or is anybody currently doing an army of them?

Baron Kane - April 17, 2009 11:48 PM (GMT)
Well I do have some interest but I'm not the most skilled at converting though I def try because I do think it would be an interesting thing to do and my friend would probs help cos we both like the idea of them

(Finally my vox hails have been replied to!)

Great!
We could use Eldar with converted armour and spears from Fantasy Elves.
For Sagittars, Riders of Rohan (from the LOTR SBG) with the saddles and stuff taken off. The riders could be stuck where the heads of the horses are.

Baron Kane - April 27, 2009 09:04 PM (GMT)
ah! The long awaited reply :D I had the same idea for the eldar body tho i thought, and i'm slightly rusty as i only just restarted my Horus Heresy interest (started False Gods a few days ago shameful really :)) that the interex used some sort of bow/crossbow weaponry too that could smash through the Luna Wolves armour?

killjoy - April 30, 2009 12:51 AM (GMT)
i would think a high elf silver helms torso for characters or lieutenants/Sargent and high elf spear men torsos for normal troops
with eldar legs/ arms, i like the storm Guardian legs/ arms better as i see them with close combat weapons not big guns, even though you would have to get new guns, as the didn't have shurikin guns, or chain swords

Iron Corsair - May 5, 2009 01:48 PM (GMT)
I too, would be interested in joining this project, since I have found the Interex intriguingly, awesome.

ShroudFilm - May 5, 2009 06:08 PM (GMT)
I've got Megarachnids, if you wanted to have 'count-as Tyranid Warriors' for allies? :D

Baron Kane - May 5, 2009 06:16 PM (GMT)
:D I saw those Megaarachnids they aaaare very nice.
Its nice to see so many replies with interest and iideas this could tuurn out well in my view B)
Also if anyone has seen it, the Codex Exodites by Philip Bowles and Agis Neugebauer. Some of the conversions detailed there are veeeeery nice and may give some good ideas for what the Interex could look like :D :ph43r:

QUOTE (DaemonlordAbraxes @ May 2 2009, 07:53 PM)
Do any of you imperial guard people think that i could use minis like this one as imp. guard?

Interex?

I hope that works

killjoy - May 6, 2009 11:55 PM (GMT)
ixterex fought the Megaarachnids, so how would they use them?
and that model is perfect! but i imaged them with plate armor or layered plate for the chest. the feet and head or perfect. love the arms, not to hot on the shield though, think a another blade will be good.
these could be easily converted from eldar or dark eldar, plus some need spiffy bows :D

Arden Fell - May 7, 2009 01:47 PM (GMT)
Been thinking a little about this and what with everyone being smaller than astartes I was thinking that modifying the Warriors of Minas Tirith would make a good interex warrior.

Got some bowmen from the GW Lord of the Rings Magazine that came out a whilst back, so i might get modifying them and see what comes of it. They are smaller but would they be too small?

Actually looking at the LOTR free spruce again, it's the Elves that have the better look to them.

Gonna mod one tonight see how it looks. Centaur style. :D

killjoy - May 7, 2009 10:59 PM (GMT)
well the eldar size works for true scale but i thnk to big for normal, but the Warriors of Minas Tirith would be to small

Baron Kane - May 8, 2009 04:43 PM (GMT)
I do prefer the idea of eldar but there is some merit to the lotr idea and ofc if thats what you want to do its upto you :D.
Also Killjoy that model is very nice. Saw it in another thread where someone also said they thought that struck them as interex so i thought i'd try sticking it up here.
Course its an Urban Mammoth/Void mini (the two ranges meld together kinda tho) Urban has a touch of quality which brings a whoooole world of hurt on the wallet ofc but stiill veery nice mini and a good source of inspiration so I thought I'd share the wealth :ph43r:
and the megaacrachnid were exiled etc you could always say some were tamed/enslaved to fight for the interex considering they won ;)

killjoy - May 8, 2009 11:19 PM (GMT)
ya i really like the Urban Mammoth models
i think that the junkers with eldar bitz would make a good interex
and thos snake things will make good laer models :D

Baron Kane - May 9, 2009 09:27 AM (GMT)
The koralon? that would maake sense.
The eldar/Junkers would probs work actually. I may have to order some junker sprues cheaaap :P course I need to get some spare eldar cheaap.
Any good sites like that? I found a few so far

no man i get mine of a retailer, so cheap for me,
but a good site is e-figures.com(no its not a link) they have good service, and faster than the GW site( well for me that is  ), I also heard that "the warstore" is good too
but dont know how reliable they are, same with other cheap stores.

Baron Kane - May 10, 2009 10:48 AM (GMT)
ah thanks. damn shame that its american. I found a few good sites for me cos its all in Sterling and such, and i can get cheaper postage too :ph43r:

killjoy - May 10, 2009 07:08 PM (GMT)
o sorry man :(
now to add to this
weapons that they had:
well the bow thing
swords/ close combat

all i could think of but did they have guns of some sort
add to list if you can think of any thing

Baron Kane - May 12, 2009 06:16 PM (GMT)
-from crown to toe in metal armour of burnished silver and emerald green with aposematic chevrons of scarlet. The armour was of almost delicate design, and sheathed their bodies tightly; it was in no way as massive or heavy-set as the Astartes' plate. The soldiers- variously gleves or sagittars, Loken learned - were almost as tall as Astartes, but with their far more slender build and more closely fitted armour, they seemed slight compared to the imperial giants. Abaddon ... Their weapons caused even more remarks. Most of the soldiers had swords sheathed across their backs. Some, the gleves, carried long-bladed metal spears with heavy ball counterweights on the base ends. The others, the sagittars, carried recurve bows wrought from some dark metal. The sagittars had sheaves of long, flightless darts laced to their right thighs... The soldier officers wore serrated half-discs across the skulls of their helmets.

i'll post some more description soon. np killjoy i've found a pretty good site for me

killjoy - May 12, 2009 10:45 PM (GMT)
well thanks but i got the cc weapons and the bows but any kind of guns

Baron Kane - May 13, 2009 04:58 PM (GMT)
yeaah I just thought i'd give a description of armour and what the weapons really are, bow and close combat weapon are a huuuge range of things :D
Have found a mention of laser weaponry.<Projectiles, moving so fast they were just lines of light> but it turns out to be the "ceremonial" bows, punch straight through astartes plate.
Pretty much closest thing to a gun I've found. Anyone care to illuminate me or killjoy on the interext weaponry?

Gagoc TheAncient - May 13, 2009 07:10 PM (GMT)
The original design of Shuriken weapons had a 'bow' on the front making it look like a crossbow. On either end of this bow was a ball containing a Gravitic Motor which used gravity like a crossbow uses it drawstring, to impel the projectile at incredible speeds.

Maybe the bows are either gravitic or electromagnetic impellers.

P.S. In case you didn't know aposematic means warning colouration. Like the stripes of a Bee or Wasp.

killjoy - May 14, 2009 12:38 AM (GMT)
sorry hit submit instead of preview :(

killjoy - May 14, 2009 12:44 AM (GMT)
now that we got well CC and bows done
with there armor i think it is more for looks as for protection, elvish armor: light and maneuverable, think and sleek, and adorned with runes, carvings, stones and other fancy looking thinks
as for rules im going with eldar but with no magic things.
now for paint job i am thinking that it would look like ...(will have pic in alil)

EDIT: well cant get pics from PAINT online(god forgiving chaos machine from the pit of corruption)

but is suppose to look like a row of stripes at like 45 degrees in a box and in the center they will switch to going down, am i not making any seance...

well here a easier way just graph it :(
have multiple lines in the left hand side of the y-axis with a slope of 1 , all the lines will stop at the y-axis( the x will only be negative)
now do the same with the right hand side of the y-axis but lines will have a slope of -1 and only be on the side of the x-axis with positive #

sorry for this retardedness with a simple thing

Baron Kane - May 14, 2009 07:02 PM (GMT)
Thanks Gagoc, its the same idea that the military is trying to implement, fling an object reaaaaaally fast. Thats the non-science description I can't be bothered with a proper explanation. We have had maths from killjoy already :P
Btw Killjoy their armour is not ceremonial, it says that Abaddon/Torgaddon say that its flimsy etc then there is an extract where 2 sagittars or gleves are hit by bolt rounds to the chest from Loken, no armour penetration but Loken "muses" that their insides were probably pulped and so they ain't getting up anymore B)
Can't wait to see what you've done Killjoy :D

Uzthizzar, Librarian-Sorceror - May 16, 2009 01:36 PM (GMT)
Great stuff guys!

Sorry haven't been on for a while.

killjoy - May 16, 2009 04:48 PM (GMT)
ok what i was trying to say is that its not bulky like that SM, i was thinking that it was also for a ceremonial reason as well.

Baron Kane - May 28, 2009 10:58 PM (GMT)
Ah riight yeaah that makes sense. Its intricate enough. Hows the models been going kill ?

killjoy - June 4, 2009 09:47 PM (GMT)
no soo good.
i think when i mixing and matching parts, in the back round someone is saying "he LIVES, HE LIVES........."
but i do got the colors down, i am going to use red, white for the math part up there and the armor will be glossy black, or dark glossy red. good soooo undicited. but got 3 months to think, out of school.
all ideas will be helpful so talk :P

Vinnie - November 8, 2009 12:22 AM (GMT)
Hey guys, sorry for necro-posting. I just wondered if any more had come of this, because I'd really like to do a squad or two, and some collaboration could pave the way for a cool 'TGC Interex Army' or something.

But either way, it'd be cool to see if you guys have got any further. :P

Uzthizzar, Librarian-Sorceror - November 21, 2009 07:14 PM (GMT)
Sorry I haven't been on for a while - Ive been busy.

Im not sure whats happened.

(PS: Please don't kill me for post necromancy either!)

Vinnie - November 23, 2009 01:48 AM (GMT)
Fine by me... but don't let the mods catch you! I think I can get away with it as I am confirming that I will be making some interext models in a few weeks time, so I guess that's kinda relevant :P

My plan:

Interex Warrior
1. Eldar Guardian legs and torso fronts
2. Scratch built backplates in the form of a simple convex chunk of GS
3. Dalk Elf crossbow and arms (but I may use Eldar arms and an empire crossbow, as I have these to hand immediately)
4. Filed down Eldar Guardian helmet OR high elf helmeted head
5. Two-third cut circle of plasticard for a helmet crest.

Saggitar
1. As above but for the legs
2. Rider of Rohan horse, appropriately filed and aumented to resemble a mechanical steed
3. Scratch built plasticard bows
4. Lengths of brass rod for "flightless shafts"

And I'm considering throwing together a kinebrach warrior as I have some spare ork and kroot bits I can see potential with.

I shan't be able to update for a couple of weeks or so as the above mentioned stuff is at home (me being at uni), so it'll be a Christmas hols project.

Vinnie out. xD

Sounds really good so far Vinnie.
Why not post some pics so that we can see?
(when you are back of course :) )

Gagoc TheAncient - November 25, 2009 09:49 PM (GMT)
I came across some third party models a bit back, and posted them up on the Weblinks Catalogue thread.

When someone suggested a 30K use for them, I realised that they might also be a good base for Interex conversions.

user posted image

They're elves from Mantic Games,
http://www.manticgames.com/

And they're a good price (12.50 for 20 Elven bowmen or spearmen + carry case) and in plastic, except for the Command Squad which is metal.

Uzthizzar, Librarian-Sorceror - November 27, 2009 05:08 PM (GMT)
nice model - sort of how i pictured them with bows and a silvery pattern..

Siegemaster - August 18, 2010 04:26 AM (GMT)
true that. still wondering what the kinebrach look like
