Rogal Dorn - January 23, 2008 01:35 AM (GMT)
thanks for the help, this will come in handy

ShroudFilm - January 23, 2008 02:00 AM (GMT)
Are they the REAL Vallejo names?! That's so cheeky, it makes me smile...

Manneus Drath - January 23, 2008 02:11 AM (GMT)
Ive heard Vallejo paints were pretty good; where do I go about purchasing them?

Vredesbyrd - January 23, 2008 02:13 AM (GMT)
They are yes, I've got Squid Pink and Royal Purple, especially since GW killed Imperial Purple a while ago, and now has a fatwah on Tentacle Pink!

Rogal Dorn - January 23, 2008 06:26 AM (GMT)
are these paints really worth the extra money they cost?

Fortronus - January 23, 2008 06:33 AM (GMT)
Thanks alot for the list here. I think they aer worth it judt the fact they are in eye dropers and makes mixing paint that much easyer.

Rogal Dorn - January 23, 2008 06:35 AM (GMT)
i can get p3 paints that are in eye droppers.....p3 are the privateer press, but i dont like how there colours come out that much

Fortronus - January 23, 2008 06:37 AM (GMT)
Then sick with Vallejo Colours hehe . They are in Eye dropers also. Atleast the ones in the states are i'd hope they one you have in the UK are to.

Manneus Drath - January 23, 2008 06:39 AM (GMT)
OH and as to Shroud's comment about their names; for some reason I remember seeing an accrylic paint in my art class with the label "Ultramarine Blue" and that was a little surprising, and though the vallejo names do seem a bit "cheeky" as brits would put it...

Rogal Dorn - January 23, 2008 06:40 AM (GMT)
Fortronus im in US.....im from Florida....im insulted ;)

and ok i will order some and give them a try

Fortronus - January 23, 2008 06:43 AM (GMT)
O sorry about that hehe ya then you'll have np at all

Rogal Dorn - January 23, 2008 06:50 AM (GMT)
once again thanks for posting this

but my question hasnt been answered yet....whats soo good about these paints that i should pay more for them(wow GW is the cheaper alternitive for onve :D )
do they run alot? do they need to be thinned? mix well, etc....whats so great about them

Manneus Drath - January 23, 2008 06:56 AM (GMT)
I dont know personally, but from what Ive seen they have slightly different colors than GW paints, better color quality, and different tones and style. Think foundation paints but...

Fortronus - January 23, 2008 06:58 AM (GMT)
Well on top of being in the eye dropper they Mix and blend very well. I find they don't dry out like the GW do. meanign you get more paint and it doesn't get every where . Tho i have found that the metal color's are a bit to watared down.

Ultramarine is a just shade of blue my friend, I think Shroud was meaning names like 'Elf Skintone' and 'Wolf Grey'.

@Rogal Dorn - I find Vallejo paints tend to be cheaper than GW, though as you're in the US it may be more expensive for you as GW have a distribution base in the US, but I doubt Vallejo will meaning stores have to order them from Europe. The reason alot of people favour them over the GW paints is for several reasons - firstly they hold their colour much better when watered down, GW paints have a tendency of splitting (pigment leaving the medium) when water is added to them. Also in my experience you tend to get a stronger, more vivid colour which speeds painting without compromising on effect. They also do alot of colours GW no longer does, and is planning on culling - like Imperial Purple (Royal Purple) and Tentacle Pink (Squid Pink).

Anyone know why GW are doing away with their only pink?

Lies! God, I see it now, I feel stupid..well, with my reference to shroud saying vallejo paint names being cheeky, I wasnt including the ultramarine blue paint in that. My lack of proper grammer makes it sound like I was relating the too more than I was, which I admit I was a bit. But yes, I see the ultramarine thing now. Thanks.

BigWill - January 23, 2008 01:00 PM (GMT)
They are good to get the colors GW don't make anymore or have never made.

robert_the_damned - January 23, 2008 01:32 PM (GMT)
I now nearly exclusively use Vallejo paints, I get mine from EM4 miniatures because they're cheep, do lots of other useful bits and most importantly are amazingly fast, I've never had to wait more than 48hrs for anything from them. Very useful if you want to get on and paint something!

I have the colour chart for their military colours (which I've bought at shows and on ebay so far) would anyone be interested in it? if so I'll post that up.

Also I'd like to say that the Vallejo pots are great, I've never had a leakage or one clog or dry up, all of which I've had with other pot designs.

Sounds like they're worried about what will happen if too many girls are attracted into WH by pink space marines? :P

Vredesbyrd - January 23, 2008 05:26 PM (GMT)
How do they expect us to paint our Slaaneshi Marine's without pink? It just wouldn't be right.

Its a government plot I tells ya, a plot!

Anyone makes any jokes about warriors wearing helmets that are purple will be met with swift, bloody but efficient and damn stylish retribution.

Lady_Chaos - January 23, 2008 05:34 PM (GMT)
heh heh heh.. purple helmets :P

Weiss - January 24, 2008 12:50 PM (GMT)
Pictures a bit bright, but I much prefer the purple to the pink...

Torg - January 24, 2008 01:38 PM (GMT)
Sorry,It was a bit bright that day,(though in my Chaos army,I still need Typhus!) :)

NeDlol - January 26, 2008 12:19 AM (GMT)
I noticed some of you guys were saying its more expensive to buy the vallejo paints compared to GW ones, well considering that they're 17ml instead of the measly 12ml GW sells if its less than 50% more expensive, I say swap to them.
