The Krakens
In part one of the ‘Showing off my Tau army’ compendium. I present to you the Krakens, a family of super heavy vehicle modifications produced and painted by comrade Simon.

The Kraken that forfils the rule of heavy assault and support unit. Heavily armoured and heavily armed the Kraken is a blunt instrument when deploying in ‘killing blow’ tactics. She can keep up with other Tau Transports and carries a self-defence detachment of Gun Drones just in case.

Kraken design
The ‘daddy’ Kraken. All 3 are made from Star Wars Trade Federation tanks but extensively modified to be more Tau-ish with Dual Rail Guns, a phalanx of Ion Cannons and other ‘bits’.

Command Kraken



The command variant is a set above the others with some fancy bits on the turret as well as shield generators.


Detail on the turret, were you see the Tau commander and the targeting array, along with a rear defensive Smart Missile Launcher.

very Very Nice... I love... But why not just give the vessel Void Shields?

Epic states Tau shields react mmore strongly to stroinger hits, so the bigger the gun the better the save.
