Welcome to The Edge of Oblivion. We are glad to have you and we do hope you like what we have done here. Our Goal here is to try and please everyone at the same time while still adhering to rules and obligations. Our Main and utmost important goal is to have fun. Please take a few moments to look and read through everything in the basics section, especially the rules. We are very understanding and very lax around here. For the most part we do not hinder your creativity and we're pretty open for any ideas or suggestions. Just a reminder, we are a rated 'R' board and do require that you be 17 or older to register. By registering and filling out the bio, you are signing off that you are indeed over 17 and are mature enough for all content on this board. Once you have registered and completed our application, then you will be able to join in on the fun. We hope you have liked what you've seen here and we are really looking forward to RPing with you.

Here are a few Q & A for you in case you were wondering.

*Can I have other Species other than whats posted in the list?

It honestly depends on what it might be but feel free to ask. The worse we can say is 'No', right?

*When can I have the password to the over 18 section?

This is determined by your maturity, activity, and goals. There is an app that you may fill out but it will be discussed by the staff and you will be informed of our answer. It might not be right away so don't become a pest. Your RP should not dwell on that section, so don't go in that direction thinking your going to be approved right away. Its only meant as an added extra bonus to our board. Not your general purpose for being here.

*Can I have as many threads as I like?

Sure, but we ask that you don't always start them. If you see a thread that someone else has started without a reply, then please, jump into it. The more active we are together, the more members we will have in the future. If someone comes one and sees to many threads standing alone without a reply, it will discourage them and they will move on. So in this regards, we encourage that you jump into a thread rather than starting your own. Also as a side note, you may have as many threads as you'd like as long as you can keep up with them.

*Can I have my own sub board?

We do allow people to have sub boards in the residential section, yes. If you would like a sub board in one of the other sections such as a business, then ask a staff member and we will discuss it. A lot of it depends on your activity status. If You show us that you are active, then we might just give it to you.

*What happens if I play a human(or other species) and they die or get turned?

This is an option up to you. You can either kill them off and delete the account or you can have them turned to whatever they are being turned into. Just let admin know and show us the thread. We'd be happy to edit your bio and move it to the proper place. Just remember, once turned, you can never go back. So make sure your decision is final before you make it.

*What happens if I mistype my name while registering?

Just inform a staff of the proper way it should be and we will change it for you. An email confirmation will be sent to you just in case you forget or to confirm it has been changed.

*I have read the small descriptions on the species list. Is that the only thing I should go by?

The answer to that is about as hazy as the many rules and descriptions on the creatures of the night. Many movies, books, shows, etc have different obligations and rules to go by. Ours is just a basic format. If you want your vampire to be allergic to garlic or afraid of crosses, then be our guest. We will not judge your character on what you believe in. If you want your demon to look like an actual demon, go for it. Your creativity is your own here at TEOO and no one will discriminate you for it. We're here to have fun and play together. Just make sure to let your RP partner in on the little details before you go posting. We encourage you to talk things out so things go rather smoothly.

*Is there a timeline to abide by?

Your timeline whether it be seasons, dates, weather, time whatever, is your own. Just remember your character can not be at two or more places at once. We do not believe in moving people forward to fast because threads may takes months to complete. So we leave this up to the players. I personally, like to stick to a day by day thing, maybe skipping a few days here and there, but I don't like skipping to much time because it leaves things unexplained if too much time has passed. For example, If one thread says its snowing and another thread says the leaves are falling or that the weather is a nice 72 degrees in the middle of spring, then what happened in between? Most of my threads will take place within a few weeks of one another, but that's how I like it. I keep track of my own timeline, but that's not to say you have to do it the way I do. Right now, we are starting in the fall of the year 2011 in Chicago. That's your starting point. Where you choose to take it from there, is up to you.

*Since my character may be so old, can I do past threads? What about future threads?

We do not encourage threads of the future unless you are RPing with someone who can see into the future or skip through time and even then, we'd like it to stay around the same time as the rest of us. If you do have a character who can see into the future or travel through time, then you must discuss it and plot it out before hand and let the admin know so they aren't confused with whats going on.

As far as threading in the past, by all means go for it. One of the benefits of having an old character is that you have so many options and time eras to work with. It gives more characteristic to the character and increases the muse for your character. We only ask that you state the time, era, date, and/or place of the thread. The same applies to any threads of the future as well. For example, If I was doing a past thread with Reines, I would put in bold words the date and place of the thread.

So far this is all I can think of, but I'm sure as we move on there will be more questions we will come across. Our Staff is very understanding, so please, if you have any other questions, don't be afraid to ask. We are available all day and most of the night and can be reached by PM, Email, or IM if we don't see the question in the cbox.
