In order of their appearance:
Lucian LaRoux- King of Tetel'ac, 88C.P. - 116C.P.
Iron-fisted tyrant, known for his ruthless decision-making and bankrupting tax demands. Overthrown in 116C.P. after the revolution.
Loretta of Targa- Queen of Tetel'ac, 89C.P. - 116C.P.
Often considered "the people's Queen", Loretta stood as a much loved yet much tormented Queen of Tetel'ac. The garden at the royal castle was hers - a hobby she tended to religiously. She was killed beside her husband after the revolution.
Kellen LaRoux- Crown Prince of Tetel'ac, 96C.P. - 114C.P.
A much loved prince of Tetel'ac whose life was cut unfairly, though perhaps fortunately, short by the plague.
The Plague~113-115~
Brought to Tetel'ac on ships from foreign lands, spreading through Fexlund in all directions but traveling no farther than the Caine mountains. Considered by many Aknatari at the time to have been a curse upon this "infidel nation". Akin to Earth's
Septicemic Plague; the death was a terrible one, moving swiftly across the kingdom before dying off.
Rhiann Du Nordnow, Rhiann deGrada- Duchess of Rodan, 115C.P. - present
Descended from the Danums, a line thrown into exile by Lucian LaRoux for their anti-Lucian views, Rhiann was married to the Duke of the former Duchy, Esquiol. She had one son by him before he mysteriously died; it is widely assumed that Rhiann had him killed. She ruled the Duchy on her own for some time before she was married to Roland deGrada and soon thereafter her Duchy was liquidated in the "redrawing" by Immanuel.Suspected head of the plotter's ring, the Black Court.
Edmund Du Nord II- Duke of Fexlund, 137C.P. - present
Son of Rhiann du Nord and Edmund Du Nord I, Edmund was set to inherit the dukedom of Esquiol until his mother's marriage to Roland had him disinherited - and soon after the liquidation of the Duchy left his position invalid. Raised, for the most part, under the hand of Loretta LaRoux (he was sent to the castle when he was young to be informally "adopted" by the royal family). In 137 he married Cassandra DuNord, the hereditary Duchess of Fexlund.
Roland deGrada- King of Tetel'ac, 138C.P. - present
- Duke of Rodan, 114C.P. - present
Head of the Regesvard by birthright, Roland was left in a powerful position after the reign of Immanuel left the Regesvard untethered. He had lead the revolution against the LaRoux on evidence that he was not the "true king" and placed Immanuel on the throne. No longer bound by the economic resrictions Lucian had placed on the Regesvard, Roland was free to act in opposition to the crown. When Immanuel did not "work out" as hoped and after the traumatising death of his own son, Roland used his influence to gain the throne for himself in 138C.P.
The Church~300A.P. - present
Originally a religion native to the devout of Kelyea, "the church" began to slowly integrate its way across Tetel'ac around 50C.P. Today many more people align themselves with the church, though still more cling to their own traditional beliefs.
Inquisition, The~90C.P. - 115C.P.
Though still carried out in secret by small groups, the official inquisition ended in 115C.P. with the death of Cyrus Grosvner (though in truth it was his wife, Jezebel Grosvner, who was the responsible party). Portraying to its followers that the plague was a punishment from god for the sin of tolerating magic, the church led thousands in a brutal though relatively contained (in Kelyea) crusade against mages. Many mages of all ages and genders were murdered, often with fabricated reason and against Lucian's law.
The Civil Waralternatively, "The Revolution"~114C.P - 116C.P
An effort constructed jointly by Rhiann du Nord and Roland deGrada in the early years of their marriage. Rising from a pre-existing unrest amoung the nobles and peasants, the war was an inevitable byproduct of Lucian's cruel reign, hard taxes, and confusion amoung the masses in thanks, much, to the church's peaking Inquisition.
Cyrus GrosvnerDuke of Kelyea, ? - 116C.P
The father of Kelyea's modern navy and the man who thrust it finally into its place as a marine power. Known in his time for his short stature and mild manner, he was best associated with the wine his estate turned out for many years and the overbearing demeanor of his wife. He was killed in 116C.P. by the Regesvard on order from King Lucian LaRoux on grounds of treason thanks to the Church's Inquisition, a project that was both illegal and tied strongly to his religious stand.
Balaric de Jurealternatively, "The Butcher"Duke of Aknatar, 138 C.P. - present
A former Regesvard knight , Balaric de Jure became a Black Court Operative in the days of the Revolution. Unaware of the Black Court's hand in the assassination of his family, de Jure blamed their deaths on the king and swore for vengeance. He later dealt the final blow to Lucian. He spent many years after the war in reclusion, haunted by the deeds he'd done and the rumors of his ruthless slaughters. He was recently raised to a Duke by the king and sent in to "tame" Aknatar.
Immanuel Augustine- Fexlund Lord, ? - 116 C.P.
- King of Tetel'ac, 116 C.P. - 138 C.P.
Lucian LaRoux's second cousin and a once respected night, Immanuel was used by the Regesvard as a LaRoux-replacement. Easy enough to manipulate, yet mild enough that manipulation wasn't entirely necessary, the Regesvard used Immanuel as an interim as they prepared to mold Apollo, his heir, into a king. For all appearance, Immanuel was unexpectedly slain by Mailor deGrada.
Apollo Augustine- Crown Prince of Tetel'ac, 116C.P. - 138C.P.
Immanuel Augustine's first-born and the Regesvard's hopes for a well-balanced, strong but easily-managed king. He was murdered in 138 by his brother, Ezekiel.
Ezekiel AugustineImmanuel's second son. went mad in 138 and killed Apollo in a fit of rage.
Ambrosia AugustineAureliusThe youngest son of Immanuel. A homosexual, Aurelius' secret was found-out by the Black Court and he was blackmailed. In 137 C.P. he is married off to cover the "rumors", but the marriage does not last. In 138, following his father's death, Aurelius flees into the countryside. He is assumed missing or dead.
Mailor deGradaThe son of Roland deGrada and Rhiann du Nord, Mailor would have been the next duke of Rodan if he hadn't been killed during what appears to have been his assassination of Immanuel Augustine. His part in the king's death was doubted by some, including Roland deGrada and Rhiann Du Nord, but many believed that Mailor was following in the footsteps of his revolutionary father.
Thanos Caras- Duke of Kelyea, 116 C.P. - present
Made the Duke of Aknatar when he was fourteen during Immanuel's "re-drawing." His father a mere Lord, had been a firm supporter of LaRoux, but Immanuel Augustine had been fond of the Caras family and, in need of replacing the Grosvner family, he picked them.
