Title: Rayman Creator 3d
Description: A 3D rayman engine! *NEW! Custom events*

rayhacker46 - March 3, 2011 07:28 PM (GMT)
Hello all!

As you might not all know yet, I'm bussy with making a 3D version of Rayman Creator and deleted the 2D version. So, in here will come updates, the newest versions and the freshest news!

If you don't understand something, don't mind and just ask!

P.S.: Please skip forward until page 20. From there on, the new stuff will be discussed.

rayhacker46 - March 3, 2011 07:33 PM (GMT)
I've just made the first models and they're working fine. I've finished the belly, shoes and hands and they can turn in a 360 degrees area.

Next up is the head (which will take a while) and the hair. Than I'll make some walking features and animation for the hands and shoes. I'll give the "test zone" (place where every feature will be tested, only room in first releases) which will feature a basic floor and than there's the first release!

I also had some ideas about adding day and night while playing outside. What do you guys think of that?

Back to the track; If this is done, I will make tell what I'm going to add into the second release.

Till the next newsflash/update! ;)

COOL! B)

PS.

What program you use to make 3D models?

I've made the head and figured out that it was upside-down! :lol: Such an Epic Failure... :( ... :)

And I've figured a way to give Rayman animation! Yeah! :lol:

Please note that the graphics aren't perfect, but not bad though. ;)

Hmm... Can you make Rayman body more like ball no like triangle,
otherwise good work! ;)

Terminapor - March 4, 2011 07:59 PM (GMT)
Hm.. well.. really, you need a real 3D software support to makes your models

Since how much time are you making 3D models ?

Nope, that's not easy because there is a lot of stuff you have to learn (modelisation,UV mapping, rigging, animations, etc) but that's as hard as you think ;)

rayhacker46 - March 5, 2011 04:51 PM (GMT)
Well, it's possible to make the "perfect" rayman with only GM. Look at the wireframe of rayman here: http://www.raymanpc.com/forum/viewtopic.ph...ripping#p541861

As you see, I can make all with only triangles, but that would cost days, probarly even weeks. And I just don't have the time for that.

O, and as small update: I've added the movement. All to do now is adding animation and then there is the first release!

And I've upgraded the belly to some more round likely version. ;)

Terminapor - March 5, 2011 05:35 PM (GMT)
This mesh doesn't have much polygons :D

Really, try to use some 3D software instead of those basic command, you will see the difference ;)

I could, but they can't be transported into Game Maker. Doesn't matter what dll file you have within it!

But back to the track; I've added animation and upgraded the lightning a bit. So you can download the newest update! :lol:

Download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?l34ccj8nwrejw19

Controls:

Arrow keys -> Move rayman (I've tried my best to simulate the movement, but it isn't perfect yet.)

F4 -> Fullscreen/Window Mode

Esc -> Exit game

Jumping isn't available yet, and there's no fist too. But, these will come in the next release!

I'll also try to make the "test zone" editable, so you can edit the heights into the level. ;)

I'm NEVER going to use GMOgre3D! Why? Because:

- It's complicater than C++!
- You have to learn it!

I'm not going to use that for it!

rayhacker46 - March 6, 2011 11:10 AM (GMT)
Time for another small update. I've added the fist function. You hold X to let the fist grow and release X to fire it. Also, the view direction changes after 5 seconds so you see the back of rayman's head.

I'll do the jumping and then I'll release the alpha 1.1_01 version. And I also will try to do something with an editor, but I'm not sure if it's there into the next release. Probarly into alpha 1.1_02. ;)

Alright. Jumping is done. However, it doesn't feature any jumping animation, because it messes up the other animations. I'll try to fix that into the next release.

Before I release the next version, I'm going to do some edit stuff. So, you should be able to press E, and than you can edit the heights in the level! :lol:

Of course you have to learn it, be see the result, this 3D Engine event support Skeletal animations, LOD some physics stuff, that's way better than the GM 3D drawing :blink:

Why don't you try it ?

I've did earlier with a different project. I must tell it's better than GM only, but if you don't like the graphics, than swap them! You simply make a *.d3d model that you think that looks better and you just replace the file.

Also, this is to proove that Game Maker's 3D functions are better than most people think (on another project that was called: "Rayman 2 Engine", you didn't believed that the models for that project were made with only GM! So you maybe don't know how good it can be.).

Terminapor - March 6, 2011 04:23 PM (GMT)
Okay, let's see it :)

rayhacker46 - March 6, 2011 05:21 PM (GMT)
O, and if you think you're really good with GMOgre3D, I would like to see you doing an attempt with it. ;)

Another update:

I've finished the height editor. I'll explain it next release. Just need to fix some bugs and that's it! ;)

rayhacker46 - March 6, 2011 07:53 PM (GMT)
Here's the next release! :lol:

This is version 1.1_01 and it contains:

- Movement
- Jumping
- Using the fist
- Changing heights in map

Download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?v5iwbvorfql5352

Controls:

Arrow keys -> Walk
Space -> Jump
Hold X -> Load fist
Release X -> Release fist

I'll explain something about the editing of the map. First, to start editing the map you must press Ctrl+Alt+E. After doing that, the view will follow a pointer which can be controller by the mouse.

Loads of gray ellipsoids will appear. To increase/decrease the height of a platform, you must move your mouse pointer onto the gray point so it will turn green. After it has turned green, you can left click to increase, and right click to decrease the height of the platform.

Here is everything in a overview:

Left button -> Increase height
Right button -> Decrease height
Middle button -> Change view direction

That's all!

Please note that there are still some bugs, including that the fist isn't placed at the correct position in a specific direction. And also remind that the heights don't have any effect on rayman yet.

Further, enjoy it!

I don't think GM support that file type. These file types are supported:

*.d3d
*.gm3d
*.obj

And if you have a *.d3d filetype, you can simply change the models in the map. ;)

Also thanks for the comment! ;)

By the way, if anyone knows how to fix this code I can continue my progress with making this game:

CODE
with (argument4)
{
numb = 0;
if point_distance(argument0,argument1,argument3.x,argument3.y) <= argument2
{
numb += 1;
}
return(string(numb));
}

It should check the number of instances into a specific distance, but it just keep saying 1.
