History

My Story:
Louise of Belgium was born the eldest child of King Andre of Belgium and his wife Queen Jane—formerly a princess of England and very distant cousin to the late King of England—the couple was overjoyed by this, the birth of their first child. Louise was a happy little princess for the early years of her life. Even the birth of her little sister Madeleine did nothing to change this. Louise, being only about seven at the time had a general understanding of her little sister, but at the time, she saw the girl very much like a doll that should be played with and tended to. This notion never really left Louise, it simply developed into sisterly affection, as the girls got older.

As the two developed into teenagers, they grew further apart in similarity. Madeleine was a different kind of girl; nothing like Louise had been at that age. Louise thought her sister a very cunning and sneaky young woman, and this only increased her need to watch over the youngest princess. Life seemed normal—or as normal as life can be for two princesses—for many years after that, it was in mid 2008 that tragedy struck. King Andre and Queen Jane had been flying back to Belgium from a trip to Sweden. The plane had only been in the air no more than 15 minutes when they lost a 15 foot (4.6 meters) section of the tail and all of its flying controls were rendered useless. The plane, which had no chance of landing rapidly lost height and crashed into the Swiss Alps killing all on board. When the tragic news reached Belgium, the people were mournful over the loss of their King.

It was left to Andre’s eldest daughter, Louise, to rule the country. Louise had never had any interest in power, wealth or the government, but she felt like she had a duty to her country and to her father's memory. Personally, she would rather live quietly in the country with a small family, but so far, she has been well received by the people despite her reluctance to rule. Louise, now Queen, had a duty not only to her people, but also to her family, and that duty involved keeping her younger sister free of any harm like her parents would have wished. It is not always an easy task watching over Madeleine, but a necessary one since the girl has an awful gambling habit that needs to be stopped.

Louise would do anything in her power to protect Madeleine, not just because the two are sisters, but also because should anything happen to her, Madeleine was next in line for the throne of Belgium. Louise did not wish to see how her people would fair with her reckless sister leading them. Louise did not intend to die any time soon, but her parents are a prime example of how such things can happen so suddenly. With the future of the monarchy in question and the problems with her younger sister, Louise has barely any time to worry about herself, let alone romance. She still fantasises about a simple country life, but is aware of her priorities.

It was the morning the ship had arrived in England. It was a gloomy day, unlike the weather conditions in Cleves. Faintly in the distance you could see the coast of England. A woman began to pull her thick cloak of green velvet closer around herself while looking at the awaiting English guards on horseback. A simple litter was waiting on the slopes to bring the woman, Anne of Cleves to Greenwich Palace. Taking a step off the teetering ramp to the unsteady ground,she slowly proceeds down to the safety of the ground. She smells the air and smells of salt of the sea. She distinctly nods to her ladies to come down and climb into the litter that is awaiting them impatiently. "So this is England..."You could hear her whisper into the brisk morning air.

About an hour later, you can still see the litter plopping along in trails of the winding roads. By now the clouds had become more clashed together and they had opened up and rain had started pouring out by now. the guards had begun to tilt their heads until they came across a little cottage that would serve as shelter for the time.

Inside the litter all the ladies had fallen fast asleep except for Lady Anne of Cleves. Her face was a look of pain and tiredness wishing to be back home in Cleves and rattling on in German to her sisters. Feeling the carrige stop Anne climbes out of the litter to see her guards banging on the door speaking in German.

"Auf machen, wenn jedermann innen dort ist! Eine edle Frau durch den Namen von Anne von Cleves benötigt Schutz vom Regen. Auf machen."

Anne smirked at what he said and climbed back into the water tight litter. She laid down on the cushions and soon fell to sleep.
