Benders; the ability to manipulate a single classical element into one's will.
It is unknown when the first bender appeared. They have long been part of the magical military, for their creative use of power in battle. Altough most obtain control through their own means, the Underworld has a training program for young benders.
There are not many natural benders. Most natural benders are taught, or tutored by another bender. Age can often dictate skill, but not always as bending can emerge at any age from around 12 years old to around 75 in women and 15 to 60 in men.
Strength can also vary, as can control. No two strength levels are alike; one water bender, for example, may be able to control an ocean, while another may struggle to move a puddle.
Weaknesses
Bender's greatest weaknesses are against each other. Water, for example is weak against Fire (and vice versa), while Earth is likewise weak against air. It is because of this weakness that an uneasy truce has formed between the different sects of bending.
Types
Fire Fire benders have one of the more difficult elements. Although powerful, the actual bending requires the user to be calm. Many non-benders find it difficult to understand the irony.
Water Water bending is the easiest to explain and yet one of the most difficult to put into practice. Some water benders may have latent healing abilities. Water Benders are highly sought after in industry.
Earth Earth benders must be in control and have the ability to sese changes in the ir environment.
Air Although it may seem to be the easiest of elements, air is one of the more difficult, owing to the fact that the user must have total consentration to keep the air in their control.
