Basic Informationa nymph is any member of a large class of female entities in human form, that is either bound to a particular location, or landform, or is part of the retinue of a god, such as Dionysus, Hermes, or Pan, or a goddess, generally Artemis.[1] Nymphs were the frequent target of satyrs.
Nymphs live in mountains and groves, by springs and rivers, and in valleys and cool grottoes. They are frequently associated with the superior divinities: the huntress Artemis; the prophetic Apollo; the reveller and god of wine, Dionysus; and rustic gods such as Pan and Hermes.
The symbolic marriage of a nymph and a patriarch, often the eponym of a people, is repeated endlessly in Greek origin myths; their union lent authority to the archaic king and his line.
The magic of the nymphs is somewhat limited, and it pertains to that which they come from. So, don't have a glen nymph using fire abilities. For one it would kill them.
The weaknesses of the nymphs is somewhat well known. If the environment in which they come is destroyed, such as if a dryad's tree is cut down, they will be killed almost instantly. This is why they take great care of where they come.
A nymph can take on a human appearance, but there will be differences such as hair color or texture, eyes, or pointed ears for example. If not in this type of appearance, a nymph can change their appearance to blend in with their environment, such as one of the Naiades changing themselves into water, or a Dryad changing their appearance to look like their tree.
