Shifters are often regarded at the lowest class of magical creature. Inbetween human and creature, they are feared by humans and looked down on by those of magic.

History

The history of shifters is confusing. Many say they originate from the evolution of man, a genetic throwback, almost. The most generally accepted story, however, is the idea that they come from an unholy matrimony between woman and beast. Half formed, the children were placed under a powerful image charm, which gave them the looks of normal humans, until the full moon, or their own will. Such was the power of this charm, that it became imbedded into their very being, to be passed down through the generations.

There have been few stories of shifters reaching high offices, in the public eye, but they are said to make up the bulk of the underworld ring.

Weaknesses

The most famous of all weaknesses is silver. It is thought that this is a mental, rather than physical weakness, from days when shifters were destroyed using silver instruments.

Another, lesser known weakness, is a deathly allergy to mistletoe. If mistletoe were to enter a shifter's body, it would cause severe damage, possibly death if not treated quickly.

As per usual, hunters are still working on more ways to defeat shifters and have developed several mechanisms that work solely against them.

Types of shifters

Werewolves

Due to their size and strength, werewloves have always been the most documented type of shifters. Much like their full time canine counterparts, werewolves have hightened sensitivity in hearing, sight and taste, as well as increased strength and endurance when compared to humans and magi.

Thanks to their easy mind manipulation, werewolves are highly desired on the black market.

Transformations are not instant and can take anything from 1-10 minutes.

Werecats

A reletivly new phenomenom, werecats are light on their feet and extrodinarily fast. Most are acomplished at sports such as gymnastics and athletics. Strangly, many werecats can go their entire lives without realising that they are in fact, werecats.

As with werewolves, transformations take from 1-10 minutes.

Shifters

The rarest of all shifters, the 'general' shifter. They can shift into any creature imaginable, although they have no special attributes while in human form.

Transformations are generally instant.
