Mio walked along the street of the shopping district with one bag in hand. While it would look like she was enjoying herself, she was feeling quite bored really. She decided to stop at a cafe, ordered a drink and sat outside with her order as she watched the people walking along the street.

"Kind of amazing..." she muttered to herself as she watched people.

Griffin, illusionist and part-time walking ball of annoyance, was out stalking the shopping district. Probably because no one could find valid enough reason to throw him into jail. That was the problem with people who were annoying enough to bug the wits out of a person, but not crazy enough to actually commit crimes -you couldn't get them to bugger off, and you couldn't get any dirt on them to lock 'em up someplace. Griffin was staring at a girl in a cafe whose hair-color was strangely interesting when he heard her speak and took that as an invitation.

Pulling up a seat opposite her, Griffin spoke, "Isn't it? The hustle-bustle of feet walking, people brushing shoulders, and everybody talking all at once. Almost magical, really. You know, except for the pick-pockets and swindlers." Griffin grinned across the table at the girl.

Mio was quite amazed when someone actually took a seat across from her and responded to her rhetorical question that was meant for herself. She quickly got over her amazement though and looked questioningly at the boy. "I guess you could consider it magical," she said, shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly. "There's always hazards though."

Griffin nearly snickered at the girl's little pause of surprise. It was so fun when that happened. He really liked it when he caught people unawares, childish as that was. It was yet another one of his cat-like pleasures.
"Which hazards? There are nearly too many to name." Griffin laughed, appearing as comfortable at the stranger's table as he would have at the table of a good friend.

Mio was no where near comfortable. This stranger just decided to make himself comfortable at her table, and it was probably showing in her now stiff posture. She needed to relax. How many times had to talked to random strangers because she was researching? Countless. Yet this boy makes her very nervous out of all of them. "Yes, way too many, I wasn't trying to name any in particular." Should she be bold and see what his reaction was if she mentioned vampires? Sure, why not?

"Especially when vampires could be included with them," she said in a nonchalant manner. Her body had relatively relaxed as she stated it yet she peered at the boy, waiting to see anything.

Vampires, eh? So this was one of those girls that believed in the supernatural. Interesting! Griffin's own curiosity increased, and he found the need to tease the girl becoming almost unbearable. He pretended to be mildly surprised, however, and he leaned back in his chair as though thinking about her reply.

"You believe in crap like that? I guess you also believe the stories about bigfoot, nessie, and the academy students being all weird." Griffin laughed, leaning towards her over the table top to stare more intently at the girl.

"Griffin, by the way" grins and points at himself.

She stared blankly at him. Was that genuine surprise or faked? She couldn't tell. "Yes, kind of hard not to believe when you see it for yourself. Not so inclined to believe the bigfoot and nessie stories, but academy, yes." She was taking a giant leap right now. This boy could end up being just a regular civilian who would now think she was insane and seeing hallucinations.

"Mio, nice to meet you," She said quickly, not really showing genuine interest or anything in him, just a blank face as she watched him. She wasn't defensive, just cautious.

Tilting his head to one side, Griffin pondered just how much he should let on. Chances were if he let out too much info about the academy a stink would rise and he'd get into a lotta trouble. Not, Griffin thought snidely to himself. That anyone would believe one delirious girl with her insane stories. these inner thoughts were displayed only by a slight "Heh" he gave as she agreed about the Academy students.

"Mio, huh. Cute." Griffin said, though his manner was just as uncaring as hers as he inspected a rather pretty salt-shaker. "I happen to be an Academy student myself, actually." he glanced up at Mio for a moment, almost tauntingly. "It's not quite as magical as people make it out to be." Griffin smirked.

Quite was the keyword, if Mio picked up on it.

This was interesting news to Mio. This boy was an academy student? Her curiosity instantly arose and clearly showed on her face. His smirk though made her wary of what he was saying. "Not quite so magical, you say?" She wondered if he'd give anything else up. "There has to be something quite curios there or everybody wouldn't be so hush, hush about it."

"Oh, there's plenty of curious stuff in there." Griffin declared, nodding his head in agreement with himself. He'd decided he would try and frustrate her, as she seemed to have become quite interested in what he was saying, instead of playing it cool like before. Griffin then, obviously being annoying, pretended to change his mind while his grin remained in place, showing plainly that he was playing around. "No, then again, now that I think of it, I guess it's not all as curious as one might think...?" he raised a finger to thoughtfully tap at his chin, tilting his head confused-puppy style while his grin became all the more sly.

The guy was playing with her. She knew he was. Her face dropped back to a blank stare again. She hated when people messed with her, but she had to keep calm. She didn't want to loose her temper on this stranger. "If you didn't want to talk about the academy, all you had to do was say so." She felt like it was useless already to ask this guy; he was already playing and she didn't like that. She'd rather just have a normal conversation.

"So what brings you to the shopping district on a busy day like this?" She bluntly changed the conversation with purpose.

Aww. That was no fun. She'd changed the topic. Griffin felt annoyed at having failed to really get on her nerves. Where was the fun in that, letting it drop so quickly? Griffin's manner became plainly bored towards her, and he slung an arm over the back of his chair as he leaned back, sitting in a perfectly juvenile manner as he stared at Mio through half-closed eyes.
"I've got detention, so I escaped it and darted here instead. It should be ending about now, though." his nose wrinkled as he thought of it. "If they knew I was out here, they'd go BOOM!" he snapped his fingers, his power of illusion allowing for a small spark of slight to accompany the clicking noise, like a lighter being ignited. It was more out of habit than anything else, and he scarcely took notice of it. "You?"

Mio's curiosity arose again. Would he answer questions about what he had just done? There was definitely a spark of light when he snapped his fingers. It sounded like a lighter lighting but she could tell that he didn't hold a lighter in that hand. What was it? She was burning with curiosity as she stared at his hand.

She shrugged as she continued to stare at his hand as if it would suddenly start telling her how its owner had made a spark. "I decided to go shopping, got bored, and started to people watch. That never seems to get boring." She said, still staring at his hand, debating on asking him about it.

Griffin's smile, which had previously disappeared, returned as she continued to stare at his hand. He moved his gloved hands as he spoke, waving it through the air just to see if Mio's gaze would still follow them. "Doesn't get boring, huh? I bet you spot some pretty strange sorts. Especially now that the circus is in town, all of those guys are pretty flashy." he spread his hands in the air to emphasize the word "flashy", allowing for just a few sparks to appear at his fingertips again for a few moments, just to see what she would do.

OOC: I'm sorry... I totally forgot about this.... >w<

BIC: It would seem like it would be easy to take the conversation in full circle with a remark about weird people like vampires, but it hadn't gotten her anywhere, so why bring it up again. She hadn't completely followed his hand. She looked back up to his face when he started waving his hand around. Yet she still watched it from the corner of her eye. "Yes the circus is definitely flashy. Though I've heard that this group has someone that can turn people into stone. I don't know if it's true though." Again there had been sparks and her eyes had quickly darted to his hand again. "Illusion?" This was just a vague question as to the sparks.

welcome

For as long as anyone in Oyama, Japan can remember Shinō Academy has existed. Lying just outside the city the school is home to some of the most brilliant minds and rigorous academic courses available. At least, that is what the rumor is. No one from Oyama seems to actually know what is behind the academy walls. Enrollment being by invitation only the academy has kept itself secluded from the town all these years. Students attending the academy may be seen around town occassionaly but none show much interest or willingness to discuss the school with outsiders. Much of the townspeople in Oyama have learned to leave it well alone, Shinō Academy remaining still today a mystery.

If only they knew the truth about the academy and the students...

Welome to Shinō Academy
